Who might pop next? a look at the double-digit recruits who have LSU predictions

in on the 247 Crystal Ball.
Caleb Williams, the five-star quarterback out of Washington, D.C., has piled up college offers, and a handful of different teams have been thought to be the program to beat - ranging from Georgia to LSU to Oklahoma. The Sooners landed the two most recent predictions on the Crystal Ball, but Lead Expert Steve Wiltfong's predictions remains on LSU. Williams has not circled a decision date, but like with Nussmeier, he's a safe bet to put on the short list of quarterbacks the Tigers will most likely land in the 2021 cycle.
There were rumblings that LSU was about to pop Jaheim Oatis in October, and the Tigers have held the 247Sports Crystal Ball lead since. The 2022 Mississippi native is already ranked as a top five defensive tackle prospect and a Top 100 prospect, and offers are in from not just LSU, but also the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Oatis can play on the defensive or offensive line, and he's been recruited by college coaches with that in mind.

Caleb Williams - 33% (Crystal Ball leader)
Chris Hilton - 100%
Shazz Preston - 100%
Maason Smith - 100%

If Nuss commits to LSU at his announcement in April, do you think it affects CW’s decision?

I would hope not. Every school Caleb is looking at has no shortage of QB talent. Not sure, but I think most of them would probably be considered to have more QB talent than what LSU currently has.

With Nuss making his announcement date it makes me wonder when Caleb will make his now? He stated in a interview a couple weeks ago that he plans on committing in the next 2 months which would be sometime in April like Nuss. Gonna be interesting to see who commits first and where. I was hoping Nuss would put his off until after Caleb but now I don’t think that’s gonna be the case. Maybe Nuss is putting pressure on LSU to see if they really want him instead of him being plan b

Maason is an absolute animal and has the physical tools and instincts to be an immediate impact player. He plays with speed and violence and he will win some awards and be a force.

Not to dispute what you’re saying but even if Nuss committed after, CW would still have the opportunity to decommit.
With that in mind, I think CW will know we are looking at 2 QB’s either way.
I don’t think it affects his decision at all.

I’ve also “heard” Maason has been on campus dozens of times. Hopefully we land him for sure.

If Nuss commits in April then it absolutely means we don’t think we are getting Caleb Williams. We just signed 2 QBs this year and there is no way we are taking 2 next year. Especially since one of the ones this year will more than likely redshirt since we have Brennan for next two (assuming he works out). Williams is a potential freshman starter. Why sign someone else?

It's not like LSU has never been burned by recruits because they didn't go after more than what they really needed. Better be safe than sorry. Let the recruits decide the rest.

Or maybe LSU will take two QB,s in the 21 class

You are wrong. If both of these dudes commit LSU will take them both.

Dylan Moses was on the LSU campus constantly, never missed an event and his father hosted a lot of activities and you saw how that ended.

That was an anomaly, nothing more.

Understatement if the guys in this picture are close to average height/size. It looks like he could carry them around - one in each hand like a loaf of bread.
