Golding would be one of the better options for a DC that can also recruit. His Louisiana ties would be an advantage there.

I have no idea if LSU could pull him away from Kiffin right now, but I would think he is on the list of candidates.

Coaches are funny though. Most coaches rely on their personal connections and coaching trees to make hires.

None of his defensive hires at LSU so far have been very good, but he has a history of hiring talented DC's historically.

This is who i wpupd go after first.

Sell him on hiring all his own guys and having complete control. He'll of a recruiter and schemer.

New D-coord needs to bring in Dunbar as a Dline coach and Raymond for DBU. I would be ecstatic if we brought in Aranda.

Or he's just a placeholder and isn't making playcalls.

Lsu has multiple defensive deficiencies...coordinator is just 1 of them. Lsu doesn't have the guys on defense to compete for a championship

Bring Ed Orgeron as D line coach and recruiting coordinator. We are already paying him. Lol.

DO elite DC's need to be elite recruiters?

Certainly helps.

know it helps but if recruits think there getting the best development...they will come.

UGA didn’t have a first round DL drafted from 2005 to 2022 and they still got 5 stars.

recruiters recruit.

I would believe a new DC hire would clean house and bring in his own coaches.

This is not how coaching hires work, especially under established coaches like Kelly.

A new DC may recommend a coach or two. No DC is bringing his own staff.

I’ve never seen so many errors in one post.

Knowles is at Ohio State, Riley is OC.

frick no. We already have a DC who doesn’t adjust no matter what. Let’s not get another one who also isn’t known as a great recruiter.

Nah. He’s nothing but a guy who rode Saban’s coattails. He certainly hasn’t done anything special at OM as a coach or recruiter yet.

I’d take Golding as DC, Dunbar as DL and Chevis as DB coach.

This. He can coach and run Kirby/Saban's defensive scheme and is an elite recruiter.

You go after him hard with a massive contract and let him bring in his own secondary and DL coaches.

It's hard to hire a DC working under a defensive mastermind head coach and expect their body of work to be 100% theirs.

People said this about Kirby when he was hired at UGA. Everyone just assumed it was Saban's defense and that Kirby couldn't coach and the run scheme anywhere near as effectively.

I don’t know all the details but Leonhard was named the interim HC at Wisky when Chryst was fired. When they hired Fickell, I seem to remember it was a mutual decision that Fickell wanted to bring in his staff and Leonhard didn’t want to be a part of it? Seems like the Illinois gig was designed to be a one year break until he gets another DC job?

I thought Fickell wanted him to stick around but Leonhard didnt because he was disappointed he didnt get the Wisconsin job. Not sure if I am just making things up. Do believe the analyst job is a 1 year “reset” and he will get back to a DC job soon.
