Sorry if this has been discussed thoroughly already, but was he on board and we just decide "nah"? Did we really turn him away or was it just a big snafu?

Glenn Beal and we never really recruited him hard. There was no reason too, we didn't need yet another blocking TE.

LSU signed a TE out of FLA and Thaddeus Moss (Randy's son) transferred from NC ST last year which provided LSU with 2 new TE's for the 2018 season. Although Beal was offered, he was never really a player/position of need.

Glenn Beal is an athletic TE that much more than just a blocking TE, but it is what it is with Orgeron and staff in that they weren't interested I guess.

No, he's pretty much just a blocking TE out of that Curtis offense. He had what, about 25 catches in his last 2 years there? He hasn't developed as a true TE at all in that offense. He was around 260-270 pounds recently and is certainly a beast of a blocker. We're over those types. Time to move into the modern age where TEs can catch the ball and become a weapon.

Basically you just hope he develops into an OT down the line. We dont need another project right now like that. No offense to him and I know the Curtis crowd always will get riled up here but he wouldn't have added any value whatsoever to this class. Moss and Sheffler are much better true TEs.

The kid is athletic, you show some old past camp video where you can clearly see he wasn't taking it as serious as he should have been by being lazy in running those pass catching drills, and even lazily making pass catching attempts at the ball. He should not have been doing that and I'm sure a coach chewed his arse out a time or two, but even in that drill he loses some defenders with decent route running moves for his size, uses his size well to screen the defender from getting to the ball, and makes catches when his lazy arse wants to. But I've already seen his Hudl video and recognized his athleticism when he wants to use it because in this video you can see him getting off the line fast for his size and making the catches, he's not at some youth camp and knows these catches count. He's a load to bring down to and will only get stronger and bigger because he's so young right now. They will work off all that baby fat in college, and be on his arse to mature and then you will see a full fledged pass catching and blocking TE beast in college. That's what would have happened if LSU had taken him like they claimed they would if they didn't get Goodrich or Foster, but shite who cares now, A&M has a good prospect. LINK

Curtis never did throw a lot, especially to the TE's.

I'm more suprised he didn't sign with Bama than I am with us. He wants to play TE and Bama gave him the option to start there but preferred him as a DL. Guess he bought TAM giving him a shot at TE than Bama. Not a huge miss IMO. We don't need more TEs

He actually never had a committable offer from LSU, it is not that he didn't get the paperwork there was never any intent to send him paperwork

Rumor has it LSU decided they needed the 2 scholarships they had left to go after transfer DB help. They did not want a TE that would never see the field.
