What's the story with Marcel & Ika

Marcel has been an initial signee already. LSU would be stupid to count the same person twice.

I don't believe Marcel Brooks would affect recruiting numbers as we already used an initial counter on him

I don't believe he would, it's not totally clear, though.
First time signers are initial counters. I believe this is written like it is because scholarships are renewed each year, so, obviously guys don't count as initial counters in years 2-4. But I'm not sure if this resets when the athlete leaves a school, signs with a different school, then returns to the first school.
Edit: This makes it seem like he would count, since they make a specific provision for 2 year schools and make no specific provision for 4 year institutions.

You can’t just bail when things get rough and then decide to come back. I would never trust anyone like that.

I’m pretty confident he didn’t bail when things were rough. They were actually great. Now, I understand not taking him back but with our numbers you might have to make exceptions if he doesn’t count 2 for 1.

and in reality if he gets granted a waiver he still has 3 years of eligibility left, now when he is draft eligible after next year where is this kids head at then who knows

Brooks can rush the passer. If that’s all he can do in limited reps, I’ll take it.

I agree. He may be a tweener, but he has a real skill and got on the field last year because of it.
