What if we just made Tulane a feeder school like the gray shirts of years past.

You get some high school recruits that won’t see the field in their freshman year due to solidified starters or incoming transfers. So instead of them not seeing the field and transferring year 1 you do this.

Give them 200k to play at Tulane or ULL for 1-2 years and get on the field experience while making some money. They can’t transfer to a P4 school unless released. They’re allowed to be released if they hit the age of 20 on August 1st of that given year.

Essentially a minor league program where the smaller schools can benefit and the players can play while getting paid.

Why would Tulane or ULL agree to this? theoretically they would want to keep the kids they are developing.

First of all...that might not even be legal.

I think we would choose a school with easier admission standards than Tulane if we were to do this though

While we’re at it we’ll brand them so they can’t run off.
Then load them up in a trailer and ship them up I-10 west.

Im not even mad, I’m actually impressed you came up with all that, typed it out and posted it for all of us to read.

If the player wants to stay they can stay. But it would be the reverse effect for P4 schools. You’d have a lot of young talent you can make a run with. Whereas we want players that have proven production.

I mean it’s essentially minor leagues with a lot better pay

You can brand me if it means I get 200k

If it was this easy to make them stay at this “feeder program” then be forced to sign with LSU, why wouldn’t you just force them to sign and stay at LSU their entire career?

I don't think this is far from what will happen in the future, I think we will have a minor leagues type system where even top recruits go to small schools where they can play every game and then get called up to the big schools. playing time is of HUGE value.

like Daniels did with AZ st. started a million games, moved to the big leagues (SEC) and had the experience to dominate.

why should big time shcools develop freshman stars? let them do it elsewhere and show up ready.

for example, what if arch had already started 2 years at Tulane or ULL and was now ready for a junior year at bama? then he would head to the NFL with 3 years of starting already.

part of the reason Daniels is such an awesome rookie in the league is that he has an insane number of college starts.

You want them to get D1 experience. Like double AA ball.

MLB. NFL
AAA. P5
AA. G5

The flip side is why would the players agree to this? They can just go to Tulane on their own and have the ability to transfer anywhere when they are ready. Why lock yourself into one school who can also sign other players at your position from the portal or from HS?

I think I'd like to see where the schools have their own so-called feeder program, a junior varsity like there used to be. Made up of walk ons, and lower ranked players. Maybe even allow mid season call ups in event of injury. The players would get no or small nil, no guaranteed call ups, but they do get a chance and PT.

The SEC is limiting rosters to 85 but actually 105 rosters are allowed by NCAA. SO a jv seems doable.

maybe so. I don't think the idea is as stupid as others have implied.

but I don't see how the feeder schools would stay linked to their major league parent. the lower level schools would just be a general feeder for all big time programs.

even a 5 star player should go to a starter school and move up afterwards if he needs playing time as a freshman. not many QBs start as freshmen at big time schools, but they should be starting somewhere. for example I think nuss would be better if he had played a full season of games at Tulane as a freshman.

there would be an issue with NIL as players would want to be at the biggest school possible for cash. so they might get paid but not start, which is perhaps not useful for their development.

again I point to Daniels as an example. he had stacked up a massive number of starts before being drafted and being a higher level and better rookie than anyone else. experience is important. players should consider starting out small if it means they see the field. then move up and cash in.
