This just further proves that recruiting rankings mean absolutely nothing and the coaches know a lot more about talent and potential than any of us do.
While I agree the rankings don't mean much and the rankers certainly miss a bit, so do the coaches. On average, 25 man class, only about half, at most, pan out. Seems as though evaluating future production isn't an easy thing to do no matter who's doing the scouting. Goes for all sports, all levels, all evaluators, coaches or scouts. As with baseball hitters, success a 3rd of the time is considered successful. And we just overlook the failure the other 2/3 represent.
As for the op, it's pretty simple. RBs have been considerably devalued and the heavy influence of the spread offense has changed where those athletes play. QB, WR some, primarily the back 7 of the defense. Have to have better athletes in the back 7 to defend the spread. And those positions pay more.
LA still produces RBs and we land our share. Development is the part in question. We had a walkon and 6th year SR who can't stay healthy(and promptly got injured almost immediately)at the top the depth chart to start last season. That's a development issue. Kaleb Jackson, case in point. He hasn't developed at all to this point.

You are missing the 4 star and 5 star RBs who are freshmen from LA this year.
I knew the downvotes would be coming
You are talking about RBs on next years team
It seems to me that there’s been a gap when we had 5-6 on the team that any one of them could start or have valuable and productive playing time.

Ok
Y’all are throwing out a lot of names
How many have played for LSU
With any type of star material?

Seems like they all went out of state.
To your point, there wasn’t one in 24, 21, 20. We signed Kaleb Jackson in 23. Moss, Sampson, Etienne went OOS in 22.
Thank you
I think you’re the only one that got my point
I don’t give one frick about great Louisiana RBs that didn’t come to LSU
This is an LSU recruiting board, yes?

An OL that is too weak to get a push forward and open a hole would make our historically best RBs look ineffective.
Good point

I'm going to really hate it when he ends up at fricking Auburn. But you can't hold his spot forever.

How's that working out for them?

Amazing actually.
Moss on paper should be one of the best RBs in the conference, thus the nation, this year.
Sampson is now a Titan.
Trevor Etienne is now a Panther.

This Jamarcea Plater is the exact type of Louisiana player every year that LSU gets on late and tries to flip from their current commitment. After watching his highlights I wouldn't mind throwing him an offer. Also kudos to their coaching staff, the play at 1:10 is so smooth.

What happened with Logan Diggs at LSU? He looked very promising in his Freshman year at Notre Dame, before transferring home. Last I noticed, he had transferred again to Ole Miss.
