What exactly do you think they should have done differently?

Deny the kids commitment?

I don’t blame Underwood or any other kid for taking money. We’d all do the same thing.

But the system isn’t healthy for college athletics. It’s needs to be modified

So, nothing then? BTW, I’m trying to be positive here. Sometimes things like this happen, but if you learn from it and don’t make the same mistake, it will help in the future to plan for things like that

Yes double down on your stupid OP.

Exactly. By all accounts, mich is getting a QB that doesn’t really want to be there. They have a shitty coach and might be facing sanctions. But some bitch-titted doofus basically forced his hand with an absurd amount of money. If anything, mich stands to learn a lesson when the expectations don’t meet reality, or that severe discord grows amongst the team bc one guy is getting paid that much.

I mean if a player flips at the 11th hour and leaves you hanging. Do you have a backup plan? What are your options, if any?
Sure, there’s always “pay more”, but I was hoping for more realistic options and better responses than what this board is providing.

I guess you guys think every question is a troll

I hope he learned not to deflate the season by losing season openers.

He learned what he probably already knew,. Kids, and probably more importantly the parents, can say all the right things, but if a bag is dropped in front of them that you can't compete with, you are left at the altar.

This. But what do you hope that BK should take from this? What could he or should he do to prepare for it in the future?

You recruit two top tier Qb's. Saban (2004) at LSU recruited Robert Lane from Neville High School. Robert was also projected to be taken in the MLB draft. Saban couldn't/wouldn't go all in on Lane, and be left without a QB in that class. So Saban also recruited Jamarcus Russell. Signed Russell and Lane went to Ole Miss. Lane wanted to be the only QB recruit for LSU that season, but Saban made sure he had a backup plan.

Just like RB's Berry and Lindsey this year. LSU didnt go all in on Berry and not recruit Lindsey. Got them both.

Don’t be sensitive. We don’t think every question is bad. We just think you’re stupid

But what, if anything, can you do about it?

Is it as simple as just “more money”? In the current landscape is that the only answer?
I’m not sure, but I was hoping someone else might have some original ideas

FWIW, I’ve seen a couple of good thoughts.

Really? Then I guess you don’t have an answer either. Why bother responding to a “stupid” question?

BK and LSU didn’t do anything wrong in this situation. The recruited the kid the right way and landed his commitment. You can’t plan for a team who in desperation and stupidity, kept upping the dollar amount until the kid flipped. At some point, the money is so much that you’d have to be crazy to turn it down.

Sorry Cleary. Didn’t mean to respond to your post with my other reply. That was for someone else.

The question is, who is there to move on with at that point?

I agree that it needs to be modified. But can anything be done differently the way things currently are?
