We need a dual threat QB. some fans don't know how valuable JD's running is until he is gone.

Of the top 25 QBs from the portal last year, according to 247, 8 are currently backups

You know who is going to be available?

Jalen Daniels.

Preseason Big 12 POY. Has been hurt and word is that he’s packing it in to transfer.

Would be an easy transition.

Just because they might think they're going to win a competition when they transfer doesn't mean they will. Ask Max Johnson and Walker Howard.

Spencer Sanders is the more apt example. He was a 3 year starter at OSU before transferring to be the backup

I’ll never understand that move. Was he just comfortable with his career being over and saw a nice bag for a golden parachute?

I hope Rickie Collins really takes a big stride but it's a precarious ledge without the promise of someone to step in if Nuss gets hurt... Also, what is Kiffin whispering to these kids that transfer in there? I can't believe Walker Howard was talked into being a fifth string QB.

We better. Our Qb room is scary next year behind nuss.

Considering the two best single QB seasons have come from transfers it would be unwise for them not to. When Kelly first got here majority of the fan base though the starter would be either Brennan or Nuss until he brought Daniels in to compete.

63 downvotes for stating the obvious. People that think Nussmeier is the defacto starter and that if someone as good or better wants to transfer in, the coaches won't take him are dumb. This offense, Oline and skilled personel with no proven starter returning will be like blood in the water for transfer QBs. They may have their pick of the litter.

A lot depends on whether #1 2025 QB recruit Bryce Underwood commits to us in January. If he's coming, I think it'd be hard to get a transfer with multiple years of eligibility to back up Nuss since his prospects after that would be poor.

We might be in a weird spot next season when it comes to backup QBs. I have no confidence Rickie Collins could win for us if Nuss goes down for multiple games.

He really could be. I saw him in High School and was impressed then.

The biggest issue I noticed initially at LSU in the spring game was he looked like he had a long motion so his release was slow compared to Nuss and Jayden.

I noticed earlier this season that when I saw him they seemed to have compacted his motion a bit.

I agree on the throwing motion. He seemed to wind up on his throws in HS, but he was also running for his life most games. I think he can be really good with development and Sloan looks to be the guy that can get the best out of a talented QB.
