That was the change the LHSAA made. You used to have 8 semesters of eligibility starting your 9th grade year. They moved it back to 12 semesters your 6th grade year. So fail anytime after 5th grade and lose a year of eligibility.

Now there is a cutoff age of 18

Nope. Same age as always. Can't turn 19 before September 1st. There are still 19 year olds playing every year. There are TONS of 19 year old baseball players.

...well now I feel like a real dick seeing the kid on the homepage.

But I stand by my statement. 18 YEAR OLDS (that aren't 400lbs) don't bench press 225x25+ times (go look at the fricking combine numbers of 21-23 year olds that dont accomplish that)...whether legal or illegal PEDS are used to accomplish that. That shite gets cut off real quick the day you step on campus.

To reiterate my point. I think this kid has hit his ceiling. I hope he accepts the preferred walk-on spot and earns PT, but I don't think we should burn a scholarship on him. Honestly, having TOPS in his back pocket all he needs is an opportunity. He's been given that it seems.

You should feel bad regardless....throwing out accusations of a kid you know nothing about. I'm hoping you aren't a grown man.

You obviously aren't aware of what Aranda did with guys like this at Wisconsin.

Some kids are born with natural strength. It's easy as pie for them to load muscle mass

Well you're wrong about that bc they obviously do. When u train in an ultra competitive environment it pushes young athletes to break records and do more than some kid training by himself. I know when I was at WM I did 225x19 which at the time was tied for most and all I took at the time was creatine and weighed 195. Following year in college kept training and did 24 and I was 19 so personally I know ur wrong. In the following years kids set their mind to break 19 and get 20 and guess what kids that weren't 400#s got it done. How...I may be bias but I think it's from hard arse work, striving to break records, seeing other kids around you pushing just as hard, and having expectations set for you that are well beyond what the majority of high school students experience. Oh and having the bed S&C program for past 25yrs doesn't hurt either.

Two star, may be a diamond in the rough, aka Hester. Like his size and toughness, just work on his side to side speed. I think he'll be a great addition and worth the risk. Come on.

Obviously hold back can still be done depending on how young you start them in school, but it is not as prominent. John Curtis used to hold back just about everyone, whether they were elite athletes or not.

Evangel's 8+ program was all the world up in Shreveport. I think it had alot to do with the rule changes...honestly i think its better if you turn 18 as a senior compared to 17..just seems more natural

Would be a great getting this kid. Very well could turn out to be a sleeper at MLB. My nephew went through the same thing at EDW. They moved him to DE/DT due to need his Junior and Senior seasons when he should have been playing MLB. He got his weight up way to much, around 260ish. He should have stayed at MLB at which his weight was always around 225/230ish.

He got lost in the recruiting battle due to this. He ended up walking on at Tech two years after he graduated and was set to be their starting FB that year had dropped his weight to 220. He was not getting serious about school and he ended up screwing himself and leaving college.

Great kid. If we have room we should take him. He is super smart, hard worker, and loves LSU. He may not start for a couple years but great character. I have known Layton since he was 10. You can't go wrong with a kid like that.

Unless the rules have changed, any financial aid to any "recruited" player deems that player a "counter". If he is coming for an official visit then he will be labeled a recruited player.

Committed and started his career at LSU. Left before the season started. Didn't jive with the DC.

What does preferred walk on mean and why not just offer him a scholarship.
