Gilbert would be a bigger loss if we didn't have Kyle Taylor. Taylor is an NFL as well.

You mean the pass which Jenkins had to stop and lean back to catch when he was wide open? This against an Arkansas team which was missing 8 or 9 players yet our offense struggled? Yes I remember it.

Who cares at least he’ll be harmless there. He’ll play 2 years have decent stats, lose a bunch of games, then declare.

Sounds like Gilbert needs to grow up.

I won't talk about Gilbert directly. But I will say ANY student who attends a college just because a friend goes there,, is a person who is childish,, dumb,, and will forever be a follower.
Family, I get it. But following others who could drop out or quit at any moment? fricking retarded

No idea, but if he's not willing to be the best at blocking as well as catching, then he's no use to us. I like Kole Taylor and look for him to be much more valuable to us than Arik. On the other hand, if Arik were to spend as much time perfecting his blocking, then the sky's the limit. I just doubt that Arik has the work ethic at this point in his career.

I for one hope the young man returns. He is a super talent but more importantly needs to get his mind straight. Come back Arik and finish what you started.

Man, wtf is wrong with y’all?

By all accounts he’s a great kid. There is no evidence he has a poor work ethic, actually quite the opposite.

Do you remember the stories about him training?

Kole Taylor is a fine player, Arik Gilbert is a generational talent.

Maybe Gilbert doesn't want to share targets like he does at LSU. He could go to Tennessee and play with a QB he's familiar with and get a guaranteed 10 targets a game and be the number one guy week in and week out.

Honestly, that's not a bad proposition for him. He'll never win the SEC at Tennessee but he could certainly be a Kyle Pitts type of player and potentially dominate statistically. Not saying he couldn't dominate at LSU but perhaps he just wants to be the focal point of an offense instead of just another guy.

I seem to remember at some point during the season Gilbert didn't think he was involved enough in the offense, if I'm wrong about that please correct me. But that's why I'm thinking that maybe he wants to go somewhere and be a true number one target, because he felt like he wasn't being utilized enough at LSU.
If that is the case then someone needs to point out all of the successful NFL receivers LSU has put in the league who didn't get a ton of catches. NFL GM's know that Gilbert has all the talent in the world and they don't need prospects to take a ton of hits to prove it.

The only thing hurting his draft stock right now is his wavering on his commitment. He could be a top 10 pick but that means he would have to settle in and be able to cope with being on a losing team for a couple of years, not get depressed and seek greener pastures right away. LSU will be back next year and competing for a championship before his 3rd year is up.

Guy on TOS says Bama is a real possibility. Not a done deal or anything but this is from a good source.

Yeah this guy was right in Chase and Shelvin opt outs early. Knew about Dare suspension two weeks prior.

Wrong about some Maason Smith info though.

Knew Koht was going to flip early.

So its definitely a possibility that’s it Bama. Guy said “$$” sounds like an old school recruiting battle going on.

I would rather Gilbert go to Tenn or UGA than Bama.

Hope we keep him.

The last two games proved that heart means just as much as talent. Those freshmen showed heart. If Arik’s heart isn’t in it here, let him walk and go wherever he pleases. I’m not with the drama.

Transferring in-conference needs to blocked like the old days. If he wants to go home there GT actually in atlanta....hopefully he just stays put though

I’ve said it before and will say it again- The SEC still has a decision to make about inter-conference one-time waivers. That is not a done deal and if they don’t allow them, Gilbert would have to sit a year to move to another SEC team.

Whatever the situation with his mental health, I do think this ruling from the SEC, which won’t come for a few weeks to a month, is playing a role with him not entering the portal yet. If Gilbert were 100% leaving, he or his family would have put his name in already. I think they have done this to leave the option for him to come back on the table.

I feel he knows where he’s going and he doesn’t want all the bs attention coming from being in the portal.

The guy never said Finley over Max. He said Max has a long way to go, which is correct. For a true freshman Max looked very good, but judged against what we should have at QB for LSU, he was poor.

I have every reason to believe that Max will improve, but if he doesn’t we need a different QB.
