Was it even disclosed why they processed Kenny Darby?

I guess they took barber but it seems they could've taken all 3 of him, mack, and Darby.

I was a big Darby fan. Only thing he might not have is top end speed.

Will stein was also my backup to kiffin.

He is going to have Kentucky rolling.

I was saying some people critiqued darby's long speed when he decommitted.

Probably will. Whether or not he will is the question. I don't see him staying on the team he's on because he'll get much more somewhere else.

Wright looked good last night and so did Watkins. All the other WRs need to get better. They dropped way too many balls. I can see why LSU is still trying to get TE Wright who with Green would be huge in the pass game. Imagine announcers saying this in the game with 2 Wrights on the roster.

The 102% threw me off.

Barber looked fast on tape.

The 102’s are probably PRs I would guess.

Dang I was afraid of Darby being really good. His tape was legit. That’s the only recruiting decision I disagreed with lane on. But maybe there was some type of character flaw that we weren’t aware of or just didn’t match up with what we wanted. Could have taken both barber and Darby and left out the LC kid.

I'm sure if we want Darby in a year or two he will be available. He's not sticking around UK if he plays well.

It’s been pointed out, but you’re reading this chart wrong.

I don’t know anything about Darby—and don’t know too much more about Barber, either honestly. Except what’s on his LSU bio. Consensus 4-star, 5’11”/183, rated nation’s 28th best WR and #7 overall prospect in Alabama in last year’s class by ON3. Nothing all that special jumps out from that. LSU has a roster full of those dudes on paper every year.

But here’s what did stand out:

— As a senior, led team to a 15-0 record and the Alabama 6A state title with 68 receptions for 1,130 yards and 14 touchdowns

— First-Team 6A All-State as a senior in 2025

— Played junior season at Spain Park High where he caught 74 passes for 1,429 yards and 18 touchdowns

— He finished junior season with 1,622 all-purpose yards and was one of three finalists for Class 6A Back of the Year.

I don’t have a 40 time for him (I’m sure it’s fast), but his measurables don’t really jump off the page. But his production at 2 different schools in the highest level of high school football in Alabama does.

Lane talked a lot last week about the game being a “performance.” I think part of Lane and Glasscock’s “secret formula” in the way they evaluate players factors “performance” and production (not just raw total numbers, but who you did it against) more than some coaches who rely more on super physical traits and recruiting rankings (which seem to be based more and more on just measurables and how guys look in camps and 7-on-7s and Hudle highlight packages).

Obviously you have to have the baseline measurables to play at LSU—that’s a given. But I think Lane and Billy value how guys performed in actual 11 on 11 football games more than a lot of coaches do. And character. How they prepare. How they practice. What kind of teammates they are, etc…Not because they’re just innately better evaluators, but because they had to become them to be able to compete at Ole Miss. They had to find the 2nd/3rd tier diamonds in the rough. Kinda like Moneyball, they had to learn to find value where the top schools might not.

Not saying Barber was an unknown by any means, but I do think it says a lot that he was the only WR they took in last year’s high school class. (Says a lot that Wright was the only WR they retained). And it says—maybe not a lot, but at least something—-that Barber played as many snaps as he did Saturday as a true freshman considering all the guys they brought in through the portal. Don’t we have like 16 WRs on the roster? Pretty sure Les’s post on the Rant had Barber with the 5th or 6th most snaps at WR. That says to me that they see and like something about him that isn’t obvious just going by his measurables and highlights.
