Two years in a row CBK has lost the top DB in the state to a rival

Disturbing to say the least

A friend sent me this one today, I’d like your thoughts on it.

This was a quote from a post in Orange Bloods
“ Hate to do this but Arch Manning is a bust.”

“ Yes, I know he's not even started his freshman year. Calling him a bust right now is idiotic.
But is it?

Reading between the lines, he's struggling mightily with the speed of the game. If he had to start game 1, he's not ready to play. Which is concerning, considering the mental aspect of his game is supposed to be his strength.

The silence about him is deafening. I'm not talking about official sources, they don't want to run off Maalik, but there is no buzz about him from other sources (current players, former players, media, etc).”
That's not what you want to hear about the #1 overall player in the country. QBs on that level are really supposed to be ready to go at some point in their first year, if not by game 1.
I think it's not 100% he's at Texas in 2024. It's already being hinted at.

Not really, DB’s are the least of out worries. We are in better shape by far, compared to this time last year. In all my years of following LSU Football, I’ve never seen such a depleted roster.

We had less than 40 scholarship players, with a WR playing QB. How soon some forget.

Well maybe Ward wasnt high on LSUs list. Our staff could have a different evaluation of him than the national guys. Could be Ward told us he wanted out of state, could be his attitude doesnt match what Kelly wants or that we think he's over ranked. Frank Wilson has been an elite recruiter long enough to give him the benefit of the doubt so if reports are Wilson wasnt communicating enough I dont believe it, we've seen that lie before when local kids want out of state.

I have no inside info, just trying to use some logic.

That's from a couple weeks ago and it's retarded. Orangebloods is basically the equivalent of putting all the Tennessee alters together in one place. The site is led by an obese chode who lost all his sources inside the program a decade ago, so now he just goes for shock factor to drive traffic.

I have not heard one negative thing about Arch and apparently he looked fantastic during the scrimmage. Gerry Hamilton is one of the most well respected talent evaluators out there and on Saturday he said "Arch is ahead of schedule and the future is really bright."

I don't understand why people try so hard to put him down, should he have been #1? No, but he's a good kid and he has no say over his rating. Everyone rooting for his failure because of his last name is going to be disappointed in the long run.

But he’s dominating on both lines (you know, the positions where the game is actually won or lost).

You can get average DBs and be dominating if you have a good defensive line and average DBs are like average WR. They are a dime a dozen.

You do know 7-5 is your ceiling right? Texas is a shite program regardless how many 5 stars you get. Your programs problem starts with your dipshit big money donors. They are all fricking morons who fancy themselves as football coaches and demand too much game day decision making. Until you get someone willing to stand up to those yokels, your ceiling is 7-5.

Sorry if this hurts your feelings but it’s a fact.

To this point, Napier has been good. The roster had to be flipped and so far his recruiting has been the best since Meyer. His time at Florida is largely going to depend on how he brings Lagway along and if they continue to recruit at a high level. Not to be determined this year.

Kelly in less than 2 years has won the west and has LSU as a potential CFB playoff contender according to most analysts.

LSU will find good DBs. In the meantime Kelly solidified the QB room, built up the OL, continued to get top WRs, built what will be the best TE group in CFB, strengthened the RB room and grabbed the best LB in CFB.

DL needs stability with a DL coach before we can consistently recruit. Lindsey's medical issues were obviously unforeseen.

Bottom line is Kelly has to be strategic with where he uses his resources and that may be portal and developmental one class and then shifting based on talent and availability the next.

To not understand this I find disturbing to say the least.

Roster had to be flipped? That’s why y’all were so terrible? U do know that you’re on a LSU board right? The same LSU football team that had about 8 players when our new HC came into town. Same team that played a WR as a starting QB in a bowl game. I’m glad ur willing to give Billy time tho, the longer the better IMO.

You guys had a 1st round pick QB and couldn't do anything with him. What do you think he's going to do this year? I know Florida fans like bring up Mullen sucked at recruiting and left the cupboard barren for Napier...well that just wasn't true. Florida was much worse than expected last year.

Ok man. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Never mind that there was ALREADY talks within your decision makers to fire the doofus.

No but he’s doing good though.

Sack up Samantha. No one is trolling. I'm in a thread about a prospect we both missed out on and I responded to a comment about Texas that was way off base. Plenty of LSU fans that don’t need a safe space.

Didn't you have a thread asking if you were wanted here and was overwhelmingly told to gtfo ? You remember, the one where you so famously reported to be "coming for our throats ?"

You are absolutely a troll, but just like Texas at football, you suck at it.

It was actually the slow arse defense that was the problem. The offense scored 35 or so against Tennessee, LSU, and FSU. Every time we scored the other team responded immediately with a very fast touchdown. If we win one of those games especially FSU could of made the season a lot better imo nobody was expecting much and it's pretty much the same this year.

Also the only WR or TE worth a damn to throw to was a transfer from arizona state. The all american OL Torrence he brought with him from UL along with the top RB Johnson and the second best RB Ettiene was a true freshmen.

The team Mullen left fricking sucked that is indisputable.

I rag on Arch as the #1 player in the country, but no freshman can be called a bust, unless he's just completely left the game of football.
