I was a skeptic until his press conference, followed by his assistant hires. You can tell he's here for the long haul and bleeds the p n g.

I'm pumped for basketball season, missed out on season tickets this year but I'm all in next year.

I started a post when he was being considered strongly supporting him. I knew he was full of passion for LSU and it was his dream job. There is no way he won't be successful. He spent too much time around Dale to fail...

The guy has done more with recruiting since the end of the last basketball season then anyone could have imagined. No matter what kind of coach he is on the floor, in a few years we are going to have the kind of talent it will take to match up with just about anybody.

Oh yeah, and with twitter, LSU is becoming the "hot" school on the national scene.

Roar.

I never doubted that he could do well, but I'll admit that I was not in support of the hire and it was entirely over the Lester Earl mess.

Glad that I was wrong and thrilled to have this guy on board. He is doing a hell of a job!

What are you talking about? Dale Brown isn't exactly a hall of famer and he left this program in ruins. I'm all on board the Johnny Jones Pain Train, but that comment was silly.

Ditto for me. I've been one of the 3500 who have supported the program through all the shite. I knew JJ was the guy,his passion is what seperates him from others. Really looking forward to some deep runs in the tourneys.

You can still go order them if you like. It's not like we're selling out.

I was dissapointed that LSU couldn't attract a "bigger name" when JJ was hired. But, I don't think anyone denied his love for LSU, and most thought that at a minimum he would recruit pretty well. However, I don't think even the biggest optimist could have thought that he would get such a highly regarded class in his first full recruiting cycle.

All that being said, he's yet to coach a game as the LSU HC. I think the "this is the greatest hire ever" sentiment is a bit premature. Let's allow the man to coach a few games before casting judgment, good or bad. Either way, it's nice to see some excitement back for the basketball program. After sitting through 10+ years of extreme peaks and valleys, here's hoping LSU returns to being a force in the SEC year in and year out.
