It's no way they are paying 8 to 10 million to a TE.

Why not, it's not USC's money.

Not surprising considering they spent over 2 MM on a defensive lineman from New Orleans last year that has only played one season of high school ball

I would MUCH rather pay $2m for jahkeem stewart than any Tight End prospect.

Also, I just want to say for the record that the "only played one season of HS football!!!" thing re: Stewart is absolutely idiotic lol. He had more production in that one season than many DL recruits--even the blue chips--have in their entire HS careers. And in any event, it doesnt exactly take much tape to see that stewart is a freak of freaks.

That it's illegal. NCAA can't cap someone's NIL earnings, it's illegal and it will never go through. If you think this is slowing up anytime soon you're lying to yourself because NCAA has no authority to stop it. You're going to have to get collective bargaining agreements and the NCAA is going to have to cease to exist which they're not just going to give up because of the money involved.

It still remains to be seen how the NIL plays out under the House Settlement. As I understand it, the revenue sharing kicks in on July 1st, but NIL restrictions became effective when the Settlement was signed. If so (and I could be wrong on that), the kids who have yet to sign an NIL deal are losing money.

It seems odd that there is one enforcement date for revenue sharing and another for NIL, but I've been unable to find anything to dispute it.

Either way, the NIL valuation and even the Enforcement Committee are going to face a barrage of legal challenges, and I doubt either will have a lot of staying power.

We're just getting started.

Well they better hope this pans out for them. It sure didn’t for Tennessee when they paid all that money for that QB a while back. This type of money needs to get you to a national championship or at least the title game. I think LSU is doing it right because you can still get really good solid players for a bargain and win. You just need to have the right pieces in place like QB, DL, OL, WR and I’d throw LB in there. I think LSU is doing it right. Pay these players but be realistic about it. I mean unless this guy is Bowers or a future HOF NFL type of TE, he’s not worth that money. I’m sorry but that’s the truth. I mean we have some pretty darn good TEs on the roster. We just need those kids that are hungry and have the talent. Like Moss was. Moss was not Bowers but he played his roll well.

Players gonna strike when these deals become limited

Kind of hard to strike when CFB will just go on without you

In essence he’s getting paid for being 6’4” and 225 and being on the right high school team

I can not wait to see them unionize and then strike. This situation is going to go from bad to worse.

Been saying the same thing. What’s going to stop them from going on strike the day before opener. Will have everybody by the balls. Lawsuits will be flying starting with the TV contractors.
