Because you make bold statements, and you claim to be in the business.

what are you hearing on Pollard?

you're missing out Hamilton....
I'm gonna go with...
Odoh
O'Bryant
Pollard
Morgan
Hickey
And then Hammink and Coleman as the first two off the bench, Stringer backing up the point and Godfrey backing up the post.
Isaac (if he's here), Ludwig and Courtney play when it's a blowout.
That'd give you potentially the best nine-man playing rotation since...hell, I can't remember. Maybe that Brady Sweet 16 team that started Jabari, Stromile, Beshara, Roland and Torris with Jermaine Williams, CT3, Dupree and Bridgewater off the bench.
The Final Four team had squat for depth and Trent's first team wasn't a lot better, so yeah. This is potentially the deepest team in 10 years built off like a month of recruiting at the tail end of the spring signing period.
It'd be a tribute to Johnny's effort. It would also be a statement about how hideous the recruiting around here has been that you could transform a roster so favorably in so short a time and nobody had done it in 10 years.
And of course he's still got to coach 'em. That's a whole other story as well. But it's nice not to KNOW you're going to suck.

So are we going to get Pollard?
I heard Trent was going to TCU a day before it happened.
I heard Johnny was gonna be our guy (then all of the Dixon talk blah blah blah and made me think what I heard could be wrong) and he was our guy.
I haven't heard a thing yet about Pollard or Odoh yet.

Stop wasteing time arguing over stupid shite. Let's all be happy that we are even talking about the possibility of all of this!!

man i don't care who starts out of these guys. I think we will have SEC type starters on our bench for once. JUST WIN

Really? That's news to me. If I'm "in the business," WTF am I doing grab-assing with you clowns on here?
I haven't been "in the business" for a long time. I do something else for a living - LSU shite is play-time.
And "hey, this is what I heard" is hardly a "bold statement." You might need to recalibrate some of your definitions.

this is why I began to lose patience with Trent and his "building" plan. Basketball isn't like football, you can turn things around quickly with a good class.

man I feel like at LSU the right guy can turn ANY SPORT around quick. We won what? 3 games with Dinardo in 1999? 2001 we are SEC champs for the first time in like 13 years.

I never bought that crap either. I knew he was going to tank the program while he was winning that first year and had LSU on the radar again and ended up standing pat with Ludwig and Aaron Dotson (and I guess Malcolm White) rather than fill those three scholarships with the best three guys he could find.
This "I need four years to build this program right" is a scam designed to keep them from firing you until you get lucky and find one marquee player who can carry your program. Anybody who tells you that ought to be fired for it on the spot. Goldbricking alert.

I loved Johnny saying "im not going to say 'wait till i get my guys'. YOU ARE MY GUYS"

And then he ran Turner off. [snicker]
I think he knew nobody was interested in giving him time to build a program. He was coming because the whole leadership of the school had one foot out the door and within a year or so he'd have all new bosses, so he damn well better have some results to show.

NIT this year will be success IMO. Tournament and I'll fap. And this is coming from a diehard fan

If we get these two, then we have a real shot to make it to the Sweet Sixteen.

Let's say we got Odoh and Pollard, what would the expectations be?

Sure he does. Even Trent wanted to win. I just think Johnny wanted to communicate that he "got it," and that he was going to be aggressive about making his mark.
And that was smart. Because everything about the hire was second-rate; he needed to have the right approach and show the right results to overcome that. So far, that's what he's done.

tournament.

So that would put us with:
PG - Hickey, Stringer, Hammink
SG - Morgan, Coleman, Hammink, Isaac, Stringer
SF - Pollard, Coleman, Hammink, Courtney, Ludwig
PF - O'Bryant, Godfrey, Pollard, Courtney, Ludwig
C - Odoh, O'Bryant
That's a lot of guys that can play multiple positions giving us the ability to create match up problems. We'll have good talent but okay front court depth with OBryant, Odoh and Godfrey. We'll be especially talented on the wings with guys that can do a whole lot of things. And everyone should be able to run.
I'm starting to get really excited.

Well, how do we match up with the rest of the SEC?
We won't be better than Kentucky, I don't think. Kentucky's incoming class is unbelievable, and they've got this Harrow kid who transferred from NC State they'll have next year. Plus Wiltjer and Jon Hood.
Missouri? Only three guys back who played last year, though two of them were guards who started. They've got a 7-man recruiting class which doesn't really look like it's all that loaded. Total mystery as to how good they'll be.
Then you go down the SEC standings from those top two from last year...
Florida looks loaded, but their post was kinda weak last year, I thought, and all four of their signees are guards. I suspect they're better than us, but maybe not overwhelmingly so if O'Bryant makes the jump to being a marquee guy inside.
Vanderbilt is going to take a dump. They lose six seniors (and isn't Jenkins going pro? I can't remember), and they've got three kids coming in - none of which is any kind of certain impact player. They don't look like they'll be a contender at all.
Tennessee might be pretty good. They've got most everybody back, and they were tough in the back half of last season.
If we get Pollard, I think we instantly jump Alabama. They've basically got the team they came in here with after they suspended everybody. We ought to be far better than them.
Mississippi State looks like a total disaster, so we'll be better than them.
Ole Miss should have the best team they've had since Kennedy's been there. I think Henry's the only major guy they lose, plus they took this big recruiting class full of pretty good-looking players. I wouldn't be surprised if they're in the top 3-4 teams in the league next year.
Arkansas took a recruiting class with some kinda dog-faced kids in it, but they return most of their team from last year. They look middle-of-the-pack, but Anderson is a guy who tends to get more out of his team than you'd think is there.
I'm a little worried about Auburn as another team who could come out of nowhere. They went and took a recruiting class with some really impressive people, and they might be able to fit some of those pieces together into a lot better club than they've had.
Georgia, Texas A&M and South Carolina are so far down I wouldn't even worry about them, although I expect Martin will have South Carolina on the radar at some point. He's doing the same kind of scrambling Jones is, though he's got a lot less on the roster to work with than we do.
So if you rank us in the league, I dunno. Maybe top 5 with Pollard? Maybe top 3 if things really go well? And I would think top 5 in the SEC ought to get you at least an 8-seed in the tournament, maybe a little higher.
