Boy, those 4 basketball players you listed, one being from 30+ years ago, really change everything. I can’t believe he would even mention the fact that none of their players are considering us this season in football when we got one of their basketball forwards in 1984

Probably because of exactly what you think. And it's an issue. Not all of them are cut out to be Tigers like they think. Just cause they are great hs players there, it doesn't mean they need to be here. Louisiana is FULL of kids who are talented great athletes that dont get the type of program Uhigh kids gets to be involved in. Those kids end up being better prospects.
Do we want and need the best Uhigh guys, sure.

Very true. I made a lot of friends from Uhigh when I was in college. Very sheltered kids, but good peeps. And boy did they looooove LSU, so that is not the issue. Of course, none of my friends there were ever recruited by LSU though ;-). I think there are kids who spend their whole life growing up on that campus and just want to look around. They obviously got that Bama bug at the moment

I think it has a little something to do with these kids being a pre-Madonna’s Being a little upset because LSU Makes a lot of these instate kids come to camp before they get an LSU offer

Are we really upset if we dont get any U-High players this year? I know Harris is ranked fairly high, but he has no position and seems like a high potential for a bust. Just a really good athlete. Personally dont think he would make a high impact wherever he goes.
As far as the other U-High players, are any of them worth an offer right now? We have much higher rated guys we are in on at the moment.
Are there any U-High players from the last 5 years or so we are sad we missed out on? I mean we got Nick Brosette, and even hasn't turned out particularly great for us. Garrett Brumfield we got and will be a multi-year starter here.
I know a lot of folks will go back to Tim Williams, but he was well known for having quite a few issues surrounding him which is why we kept our distance a bit in that recruitment. He turned out pretty good for Alabama in a very specific role (pure pass rusher), but his problems were likely swept under the rug his 4 years there too.

I know technically Moses graduated from IMG but I still consider him from UHS.

That's true, but I think we all know what happened there. IT certainly wasn't a matter of not rolling out the red carpet and not wanting him.

Also as to the bama connect. It is still very strong due to when Nick Saban was here. His son and daughter went there and is still good friends with Wade.
Also coach Cochran was a S&G coach over there for several years.

And Moses would be at LSU if Miles was still our Coach...he has admitted to that numerous times. They are tight and Moses took it personally.

It's funny that you actually believe that.

Did you see his letter he posted when Miles got fired? The kid was heartbroken....disturbed over it really. After that it was smooth sailings for Bama to get him on board.

The problem with Louisiana kids and offers from LSU is that once an offer goes out to an LSU kid, they pretty much have to honor it, or they end up burning that bridge with the school
If they can't evaluate kids from a school on LSU's campus in a timely manner, it should be alarming.

quote:frick that. The Kichens and others played there. Les fricked up and didn’t recruit Tim Williams hard enough and that started the floodgates opening. Plus, they had a lot of DII talent for a small school and just recently (last 15 years) picked it up giving out all those schollies to poor kids.
Some kids just want a change of scenery, especially if they’ve gone to school on LSU’s campus. Is it really a huge loss if we don’t sign any of their kids in 19? Harris has the most potential, but even he is a risk once he gets to college.

If you are on the board of a school like this, why would you care about having a top flight high school football team? Obviously lots of schools do it. But in all seriousness, why? I get it at the NCAA level, but for high school, it makes no sense to me.
Just a question... Does anyone else remember when UHigh didn't recruit their arse off and was just another football team in BR? Up until around seven years ago they were lucky to just have one kid in the top 25. Now each year they have some stud they brought in.

U-High has been upper echelon in most of its sports for the last 7-10 years.
If you were giving a Sear's Trophy for all-around sports program, it would be U-High and that was before the split.
The level of athlete they've attracted their has been incredible and it's not all just the sons of LSU football coaches. Some of those guys like the sons of Les Miles, Dameyune Craig, Corey Raymond and even Greg Bower weren't major college prospects.

SO heartbroken that he decommitted from LSU when Les Miles was the coach. yeah, ok.

None of the teams that are top 10 and play on a power 5 conference team consistently get 2/3 top 15 recruits and then some athletic 4 stars. That's what my expectations are the coming years with Wade. We can't waste 3/4 scholarships on undersized sf/sg just because they're in our backyard. I want a dude 6'8 and dunking on people and a guard that shoots lights out. WIth the path we're on it's to not see it. We're only getting smarter and more talented. Hope to be that team everyone wants to watch.

Their school will have a great reputation even if a few kids aren't always the best
