Cop probably trying to pick up the young girl. Girl said I'm with him. Cop got jealous and took out the competition.

Welcome to government. If they can't control every facet of your life then they go in attack mode. It's only going to get worse, unfortunately.

I think there should be some leaway if the younger is at least 14 and there is no more than 4 years difference in age. In many states, you can get married as young as 15 as long as the parents consent. If the older kid is an adult, I think the parents should have a say. As a father of two girls, I would want a legal recourse if some 20 year-old loser was trying to get in my 16 year-old daughters pants and I said no.

Two high schoolers dating and a young man is arrested for it?

People seriously wonder why others have trust issues with cops.

Just needs a rich kid lawyer to make it all go away.

No way this ever happens to Chaz or Brad.

Its the law that needs to be fixed more than the cops.

Yes.
It does.

I have witnessed it.

It is the law itself that needs to be changed.

I know a lot of folks from my high school days that would have been in jail. The trick is to not get caught .

Bad law, should be a no brainer to let them go. Some po-po's just seem to take crap like this too far. It's like common sense doesn't apply to the human race anymore.

Hopefully, it will turn out OK for him and doesn't ruin his life after high school.

Personally I would redo the age gap provisions and the wording of the law.

My main issue with the law is that the alleged perpetrator is not a predator when it is a "consentual" relationship" so the law and penalties should be different.

It is an akward situation because parents still want to be able to protect their children(rightfully so) but their children want their freedoms (including being able to date who they want).

It is a balancing act.

This guy also looks like 25 and the girls could look like 13. You just don’t know until you ask.

This kids life isn’t going to be ruined.

Likely won’t go to jail or have to pay any fine.

Doesn’t have to register as a sex offender and can have it expunged.

No, you wouldn't. You just need parental consent to marry at 16.

Absolutely, and then I would handle it in house with my daughter.

This isnt something that the law should be concerned with, its a relationship issue, a teenage issue, and a parenting issue, but not a legal one...

Agreed. It's an issue that must be addressed ASAP.

People interchange pedophile, hebephile, and Ephebophilia. They assume all sex-offenders are pedophiles.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with consensual 18 year old sex with 15 year olds. The law is black and white when the situations are grey.

People who follow the lay of the law without logic are as dangerous as any.

It's perfectly legal if the kid was born 11/14 to have sex with a 15 year old, but then on 11/15 if it is his birthday, he is now considered a sex offender.

It all depends on parental knowledge, maturity, relationships, and situational influences much more than some arbitrary date the law wants to dumb it down to.

Agree

Disagree. I think you should be able to whoop the kids arse if you want, and the law stay out of it, and handle it on your own, but I do not think the law should meddle and destroy his life when its your job.

Parents need to raise their children and not expect the government to prevent sex with older males. If you dont want your daughters sleeping with older men, raise them that way. If you cannot teach them or create an environment that discourages the behavior, it shouldnt automatically give the already over-reaching government more power - specifically to ruin a man's life over 3-4 years difference of consensual sex with another teenager.
