It seems like LSU hasn’t been mentioned in many of the top transfer talent landing spots (granted it could be just going on more being the scenes). Coming from a place of curiosity, would the reasoning be:

More likely that Matt House is getting fired and we cannot offer kids the stability promise of a defensive staff?

OR

Are we just not forking out dollars in the transfer portal this time around as compared to last year?

I think we are going to do just fine.

No sauces. Just a feeling.

Not much info comes out about lsu. Trust Kelly.

He got a heisman contender in first year. Got great DBs in year one too.

Harris and chestnut were too good. That’s the portal for you.

All will be fine.

Maybe some thought to be leaving early are staying and we are running out of spots?

We were mentioned as a favorite for Bisontis, a freshmen all American from A&M who many thought lsu would land.

Should be a plug and play left or right guard

We are being much more selective in the portal. We will not be taking 10-15+ transfers. You’re likely looking at 5-8 depending on attrition.

I think it’s going on behind the scenes, and LSU won’t be making many public offers until after signing day.

Also, a lot more players will be entering so they are biding their time.

I would assume it’s because there are not as many spots open this year as there have been the last couple. LSU is currently over the 85 number, so they can’t afford to not be very specific with who they target.

I’m excited about that one, hope we can land him, I saw that his offer would be around $500k in NIL opportunities.

I’m more so curious about us not being mentioned for positions of need on the defensive side of the ball. Some very good DBs/LBs have hit the portal and we weren’t mentioned with really any of them.

Some of the A&M dline that’s jumped into the portal are looking for massive paydays. Not much different than what Bear Alexander got from USC. USC’s defense somehow got worse and he clearly wasn’t worth it. We still haven’t heard Wingo or Smith’s decision yet as well.

I think Weeks and Penn will be pretty good for us, and we have depth at LB

Moral of the story is that we need to adjust our scheme to get out playmakers in position, which may not require 3-4 transfers on the defensive side of the ball plus the incoming class. Don’t forget that guys like Womack and Toviano and Weeks all got valuable PT

You just need to look a little bit. Most players in the portal now haven't even given any real indication of where they want to go, but lsu is pursuing several of them hard. Two DBs from Louisiana are being pursued and I am sure an lb or two will be pursued as well, but lb isn't as worrisome to me as DB.

SI Link on LSU Portal Targets

I don't think lsu is any more behind or ahead of their defensive targets than any other team at this team. It's still pretty early.

I think you are spot on. We are focusing on HS recruiting, which is our core talent and will be very selective with incoming portal players.

Actually only suprised we don't have a visitor list thread for this weekend. Just seems staff is keeping everything low key.

Kelly is probably in New York. Kind of a throwaway weekend for recruiting.

I have a feeling Zavion is already in. We're not bringing in numbers this year. Less than 10, so the staff is really gonna have to do their due diligence this season. We can't afford any misses.

I’m sure it has to do with a lot being in NYC tonight.

Most of the activity so far has been qbs, which are always first, and we aren't a player for the big ones out of choice. We are publicly showing interest in a couple that fit our situation. Competition not guarantees.
The other activity has been kids with virtually predetermined destinations and kids like Walter Nolen who we aren't gonna bid for. We are being selective to fills needs with the best players possible with our budget.
Our biggest activity has been behind the scenes but pretty public. All have LA ties so all it takes is a reciprocated phone call and those deals are down to negotiations. No need for a lot of publicity until announcements are made. The insiders have reported as much as is needed. Gilbert, Thomas and Brown are perceived to be shoe ins. The rest is just nibbles by all sides plus waiting to see who else enters.
We still have kids to enter before we actually know how many we can take and where. Numbers are an issue.
