Does LSU go after any of these guys? Assuming we lose both Myles Brennan & Max, we will need more depth/experience at the position.
(12/16 edit, Well Brennan is staying!! I'll keep up with the moves, but I don't think LSU needs to hit the portal for a qb.)
Available:
JT Daniels (UGA)
Aaron McLaughlin (NC St)
Justin Rogers (UNLV)
Committed/signed:
Jayden Daniels (ASU to LSU)
Myles Brennan (staying at LSU)
Quinn Ewers (Ohio State to Texas)
Spencer Rattler (OU to South Carolina)
Jaxson Dart (USC to Ole Miss)
Kedon Slovis (USC to Pitt)
Caleb Williams (OU to USC)
Dillon Gabriel (UCF to UCLA to OU)
John Rhys Plumlee (Ole Miss to UCF)
Bo Nix (Auburn to Oregon)
Zach Calzada (Texas A&M to Auburn)

Lindsay Scott (Nicholls St to UIW)
Lowell Narcisse (UTSA to Nicholls St)
Jack Miller (Ohio State to Florida)
Jack Plummer (Purdue to Cal)
Ta'Quan Roberson (Penn State to UCONN)

Cameron Ward and Dillon Gabriel are the only 2 that are really worth getting. None of those other guys are better than Myles or Max are really.

I think Slovis is probably up there too & he has alot of experience. I think he is predicted to "stay home" in Arizona.

Re-recruit Brennan, IMO.
After him, Ward, Gabriel, and Miller are all decent. Penix would have been a good get, but he's already off the board.

Those threads of Myles coming back sure did/do get whacked really fast..

I’m not a big fan of Slovis myself know he had the promising freshman year but has been disappointing the last 2 years, is a statue in the pocket, and makes some really poor decisions. I think Ward and Gabriel are both smart enough and dynamic enough with their arms and legs (ability to extend plays) that they can fit in whatever system you want to run and they’ve both got favorable NFL draft outlook if they can have a good year at P5 next year. Ward especially stands out with his ridiculous arm and he’s a natural in the pocket knows when to stand in there and when to get out and extend the play. Gabriel is a lot more athletic than I thought he was the more I looked into him and he’s also got a big arm. The 1 drawback with him is he does have a bit of slower release but throws a beautiful deep ball.

Slovis is better than Max and it isn't close

After all the teams go through Spring don't you know there's going to be a lot of disgruntled QBs realizing they will be riding the bench? This is phase one of the portal. Spring is round two.

What about Jake Haener from Fresno?

Seems like he entered & then decided to stay at Fresno.

I would take Slovis out of that list.

Michael Penix!
We could have some fun with that one.
First thought is a hybrid Phoenix and penus...
Second. I'm pretty sure this is how Mike Tyson pronounces Penus.
Any takers?

Even ward would be somewhat a project, but i agree. I think you either go after gabriel or myles hard if you are looking for a potential starter next season

Looks like Max is most likely headed to A&M.
His brother Jake, #1 TE prospect, signed with A&M earlier this morning.

Slovis seems very much like a possible option. Here's some quotes from him in an article earlier this week.
quote:
I think for me, I just want to bet on myself and I think I'm a better player than, you know, the projections I was seeing at the end of the year. I understand why those projections came back a certain way, but with two years of eligibility remaining there's no reason for me not to not to come back and give it give it another shot."
quote:
When it comes to picking a transfer destination, Slovis revealed the 'criteria' he is looking for in his next university. "I think for me, it's pretty simple. You know, there's lots of great opportunities, but one, an opportunity where I can play or at least compete to play, I think I have a good chance to get a job at. Secondly, I think, you know, overall, just a culture and a team that not only is ready to win, but I think I can identify with and is a positive atmosphere and something that I'm excited to be part of. That's a pretty easy criteria for me, I think. But I think it's a lot easier said than done. There's only a few programs in the country, I think, not few, it's probably 10 to 15 parts of the country, that really embody that consistently. I'm looking for that program that you know, wants me to be part of it."
