Certainly in terms of LSU track, it would be more a matter of presenting opportunities.

I know for certain that Justin felt way more love from TN track coaches than LSU track coaches.
As I recall, we lost Justin Hunter because of the slimy shite that Kiffin pulled with Janzen Jackson. TN got Jackson to silently commit to TN while telling LSU he was all LSU. Hunter signed with TN on the first day thinking Jackson was headed to LSU. When Jackson signed with TN after signing day I recall all the banter about how pissed Justin and his Dad were. Heard nothing about track being the deciding factor....

Justin Hunter had nothing to do with Janzen Jackson.
Edit : you are thinking of another safety not a wr.

My bad.....it was Darren Myles that Kiffin screwed over.

Why is LSU getting beat so badly at cheating as well? If LSU is just like the others, they should not lose all of this talent. It makes little sense to me. However, I don't know all of the details.

The mens program has certainly slipped slowly since Henry left. I can't remember the last time LSU wasn't in the top 15 in TnF much less barely clinging to the top 25.

Brown was recruited by our track for about 3 years. He was highly sought after for hurdles events. Our track coach is from Beaumont and knows the family well. That why his sister is on scholarship with LSU.

This question drums through my head over and over. Repeatedly.

Quid Pro Quo: Quid pro quo means an exchange of goods or services, where one transfer is contingent upon the other. Nobody does something for nothing: there's always a quid pro quo involved.
Every NCAAF program should have financial aid social workers, benefits specialists, and lawyers who can easily pay for medical bills if the family is too burdened to use public resources. Medical bills are the easiest of all to write off especially with the ACA. It is also a piece of cake to set up an internet fund to tap into private donors. I do not buy that Bama did something "questionable" that any organization could not also do, legally. This year there were a lot of poorer SEC recruit's parents and coaches talking too openly about sending their son to the program that was going to put food on their table, employ them, and put a car in the driveway. Plus every football athlete can receive a minimum of $17,000 in free cash grants and subsidies independent of TAF or REC funds for pocket money.
2016 Olympics weighing heavily on the mind of 2014 LSU CB target Tony Brown
Per Tony, he enrolled early to run track and qualify for the Olympics in 2016 and 2020. The Olympics are his dream, period. He has a chronic football shoulder injury and will likely never play football and risk his Olympic goals if he remains the top hurdler in the nation. Whatever Quid Pro Quo Saban offered Brown to sign LSU could and would have easily matched, legally. Tony was going to choose the school that took care of his track first and sent him to the Olympics, excusing him from football whenever or forever. At the least he will give Saban a probable #1 recruiting class and that will be a face saving feat this year and a recruiting tool.
Saban emphasizes the NFL money 'his recruits made' in his recruiting speech and takes credit for every recruit that ever went to the NFL, even incoming LSU freshmen he never coached. Well so can LSU DBU, quicker, faster.
Saban stayed on as coach only after trolling TX boosters and lawyers to make his housing bubble real estate debts of 20 million go away and jacking up Bama for a 2+ million pay raise "or else" to replace his losses and save him from selling more vacation homes at a loss. He knows a lot about crossing that imaginary line and becoming a bigger shark in the dirty waters of big money collegiate athletics and recruiting. Now if he could just look in the mirror and figure out how he lost the last 2 games against a bunch of 3 star freshmen all Americans instead of firing his staff and berating his team.

The OP's point is legit, i.e., perhaps we could land a few more players in football if we could leverage the track angle better. Who could be against that? Whether or not that was a factor or not with Hunter or Brown who really knows.

Skip Bertman dropped the ball when he LET Pat Henry walk away to A&M
Yep! And that's what happens when you promote a hometown hero to a position in which he has no demonstrated expertise. Same thing when rantards want a past great player to be a coach, or a great coordinator to be a head coach. Just because a guy is great at one thing doesn't mean he'll be great at another.

True, but I am sure he was given some more incentives $$ as well...
No player is drawn to Bama for track...if that was the case he would be at A&M or LSU, even Ark.
