We lost Justin Hunter a few years ago and Tony Brown recently. Both are/were world-class track stars. According to some, we lost TB due to Bama track coaches. I know for certain that Justin felt way more love from TN track coaches than LSU track coaches. I was intimately involved in Justin's recruitment and he never got a visit from LSU track coaches. I was with Justin when TN flew in 5 or 6 coaches to meet at his Uncle's house, one being the head track coach.

Someone is dropping the ball IMO...

What did the Bama track coaches tell him? You can make us 9th place in the SEC if you come here?

we lost brown because his mom envisioned more dollar signs after college if he signed with bama.

It takes a collaborative effort between football and track. Les isn't dumb, he knows to involve track coaches when necessary. One thing I agree with you on, it gets tricky when discussing relationships with track coach and prospect. Some are a lot better at helping recruit football players than others.

Yeah, the disconnect is that one school was willing to foot the family's medical bills and another wasn't.

The track coach is not worried about a recruit whose first sport is football. He's using his schollies on track first only recruits. Football players are a bonus to the track program and are only available when it doesn't conflict with spring football practice. Only the world class ones anyway will be able to help with track.

That he'd be the star from the minute he stepped on campus.

It's been a rampant rumor that Bama paid the Browns family medical bills when the father had a stroke.

But LSU doesn't have the deep pockets as Bama for recruiting.

straight REC funds... IF that happened.

On the flip side, LSU boosters can't even get LSU to respond to a request to set up a donation program (similar to what was done for Alfred Blue) for Dre' Clark.

Get real, man. This makes us look like sour grapes. For MONTHS we all thought the kids was LSU and there was never a word about medical bills. You think the family just dropped that bomb on everyone, or is it more likely that's a rumor?

Everything we all saw and said about that family was how classy they were, how well they handled process, etc.

If it truly was about someone paying medical bills then LSU should turn Bama in. If they don't turn Bama in then we should shut up with this type of crap.

wouldn't that be a violation to do that for a recruit? If he was signed on at LSU it wouldn't be a problem.

If it was legal we know Bama would setup a fund for every 5 star recruit in the country. "Mom got a hangnail fund"
