Readable posts in thread from Longhorns 24/7 board.

Moderator: I would say LSU has the slight edge. Texas is doing everything it can.

Orgeron is one of the best recruiters in the nation. Unfortunately, I think he drinks Herman's milkshake.

It's weird that we seem to be directly competing with LSU for everything

I said a few weeks ago, that I thought TH & staff had painted themselves into a bad corner. As the days pass now, it seems more and more that way to me.
I am hoping the furious tempo recruiting efforts can solve the obvious deficiencies on the OL for UT.

All the downvotes in the world will not change what I am perceiving, unless there is a change in direction. Currently, all i see is a whirlwind of recruiting activity, with zero results, and more Jr.'s announcing for the draft as the days drag by. It is what it is.

This guy was blown away by Baton Rouge and LSU, so we likely have little chance. Not sure what to think about somebody that's blown away by LSU. Maybe he should visit during one of the games where the fans leave at halftime.

Lol at his fans leaving at halftime comment. Texas fans are some of the most spoiled and entitled fans out there who boo and leave games early at the drop of a hat.

Yeah i read that one as well.....
Perhaps that 6-6 record they are sporting, one would be "humble" maybe He'd like to play for a WINNER and not a Loser!!!

Herman painted himself into this corner by PASSING ON LSU, and LSU's 2nd choice is DESTROYING him via recruiting

How's it feel Herman, be eating O's Cookies and Drinking his Milk LOL

His visit just might have sealed the deal. And indeed, Kissing Bandit just might be too late... because it was the last of those game visits.

I'd speculate we have more than a slight lead. Hanging with the OL, seeing some of the pre-game prep, etc. he already feels like "one of them". Having Damien Lewis there, and now committed, helped a bunch too.

I think we're on the cusp of being in the "he's ours to lose" position. If we can be last visit, this won't be a tough close.

ETA:
- when selling a house and the buyer is already figuring out what furniture would fit where, close the deal.

- if she is worrying about a pick up in the morning and not a ride tonight, close the deal.

- if an OL feels he's already one of the squad, picturing himself on that field, and thinking about what drills he needs to be doing to be one of the squad, close the deal.

What?

Of all stuff to rip on Herman about recruiting should not be one of them.

They have the #2 ranked class with 18 commits

Do people even think before they post?

If they don't start getting a lot of O and D linemen who are very good that #2 class won't be worth a cup of coffee.

DB's and WR's are pretty and all but if they don't have the lines to block and tackle they won't get a chance to show off their good looks.

DKR sold out has less energy than TS after halftime.

How'd those high ranking classes work out here???? We are short of linemen because we had a star gazing coach.

We were short of linemen because 5 OL left last offseason and then a bunch of DL got injured or suspended.

It’s well know that Rivals bumps up UT, which is proven because they suck on the field every year.

Kind of...2014 and 2015 were awful defensive line classes. We didn't take nearly enough guys those years.

That didn’t impact this season. We still had 10-11 bodies for a 3 man front, including several from prior to those two classes, and not including another that was kicked off after last season. There would have been a gap due to 14-15 that needed to be filled by a transfer, and O did get Fehoko for that, but the numbers won’t ever be much more than that as long as we run a 3-4.

I disagree.

I count 10 and three of those were Clark, Farrell and Thomas, who clearly weren't ready for any kind of meaningful role.

Next year we have 7 guys returning, so, again we're going to be counting on true freshmen to provide immediate depth.

Anyway, that's water under the bridge now, but it would have been nice to have a couple of decent upperclassmen providing that depth instead of true freshmen and a converted tight end.

Exactly why fans shouldn't get so caught up in class rankings

Yes. Yes you do play us in 2019. Herman might not even be the head coach then.
