In all honesty, LSU needs two SG's in this class. Plus, Blakeney could easily play PG with his skillset. All we will have is a Senior Hornsby. Besides him, LSU has 0 SGs on hte roster. I think we should have 2-3 at all times on the roster so I really hope we can get both. You can always play a tall SG at SF so there will be PT to be had.

I would like to get Blakeney, Sampson and McVeigh in this class. I think all could play the 2 and 3.
Plus Simmons can play the 3.
Also like to get Thomas and Dickerson, who can play 4 and 5.
That would be a class of six.

I stopped trying to predict attrition, because it's not fair to current players. Even moreso since the program has a transfer culture assigned to it.

Totally agree. That was my stance all last year when people were asking me who would transfer. I totally agree it's unfair to guess who will not be a Tiger anymore...

I at least won't say I think someone will leave the program.

true, though thats what boards like this are for... i could see a guy or two leaving just because they want to be in a situation where they can play. wont speculate on who because this season hasn't even started yet

wasn't surprised to see hammink go, whereas i was midly surprised to see hickey get the boot, his transgressions notwithstanding

I use to think that until people started to believe things that the main hoops people say too much...

I went on a 247sports board for Louisville and they were dissecting my twitter chatter about Blakely acting like I had insider info...

These days people just believe that people know more than they do. Something that is just your opinion can catch like fire.

I agree. Wouldn't be surprised if a few other targets at SG show up over the next few months. We need two scoring guards in this class. It'll be interesting to see who the staff targets as we get closer to the early signing period.

I don't follow recruiting much other than what's posted on this board. However, in looking at the 247 website yesterday I see where there are recent projections going back and forth to LSU for Blakeny and Sampson. I know it doesn't mean a whole lot, but Sampson was trending towards LSU yesterday where before it was all Blakeny to LSU. Unfortunately, I don't think LSU gets both (the bad), but it does appear that those much more in the know than me think that LSU will get at least one (the good)

I wouldn't put any stock into the Crystal Ball when it comes to basketball recruiting. Recruiting top level basketball prospects is much more dynamic and complex than football. Things are constantly changing. If you look at Brandon Sampson's profile, you'll see he got offered by Cal and then 6-7 analysts jumped on and CB'd him to Cal with nothing to back it up. Then he got offered by UCLA and even more jumped on and predicted him to UCLA with nothing concrete behind it. Even Jerry Meyer, who is by far the most reliable and knowledgeable out of all the basketball recruiting "experts" changed his prediction both times Sampson received a new offer. It's a complete and total crapshoot. The only time I'd trust it is if there was a consensus or hard evidence to back up the predictions, like a kid naming a leader or something along those lines. And Louisville got one prediction for Blakeney by some random guy who probably doesn't have any info and is looking to get his prediction stats up.

Look out for Antonio Blakeney!!!!

Looks like it's down to us and UK now. Top 100 SG Donovan Mitchell just committed to Louisville.

Now it gets interesting. Has Blakeney started talking about visit dates yet?

UK won't take Blakeney until they know about Malik Newman, so it might just be down to us with Kentucky pending really. Hopefully things start moving fast and a decision is made soon so Blakeney and Simmons can start recruiting.

Not sure about that. Blakeney and Newman are both versatile guards who can play as a scoring 1 or obviously a 2 so they could both start as the twins move on the NBA. Their only commit is a 6'6 guy who can play the 2 or wing.

UK is probably going to get Jaylen Brown too though, which could leave Blakeney without a spot. Kentucky will also probably land Carlton Bragg and Doral Moore giving them 5 signees. I don't know how many spots will be available either, Antonio might be the odd man out.

All I know is I really want Blakeney, he was arguably just as dominant as Simmons on their AAU team.

I was much less impressed with Alex Owens after watching him against top AAU competition, he just disappeared.

Other than Newman, he's the most electric scorer in this class. Dude just knows how to fill it up.
