at this point, I'll take what we can get, but damn it sure would be nice to grab an actual difference maker from the portal. I don't know anything about this kid but his portal rating is the same as jardin gilbert's was when he came over.

How is he in man to man coverage? Big10 isn’t really known for its passing and his 107 tackles show that. Love that he can tackle in space though because that physicality is something our secondary doesn’t possess

Difference here is DT actually has twice the production in half the time to back up his rating.

DT in two years has 210 total tackles (140 solo) and 6 INTs.

JG in four years has 124 total tackles (72 solo) and 3 INTs.

Would be a huge get.

Thieneman
Nic Anderson
Barion Brown
Jahkeem Jackson
Micah Hudson
Zechariah Posyner

Would be quite a hall. We supposedly lead for all these guys

Are you planning any windows for this hall? I would be more than happy to haul your haul of windows for your hall.

"He's as fun to watch as any player in the country. An 89.5 overall grade — that led the nation. That was third-best (grade) ever by a true freshman safety behind Jordan Whitehead (Pitt) and Derwin James (Florida State). Those are two really good names," Wasserman said in an episode of the PFF College Football Show.

89.5 grade last year. Ryan has never even graded at a 70 in any of his 4 years at LSU

Let him play the star position then. Jack st kid the fs, spears/ toviano / gilbert ss

Have it similar to Kelly's first year when we had 4 guys who could rotate the safety spots. We had mature, versatile game tested guys

You are just ignorant if you believe Sage Ryan is better than this guy. Just completely stupid take on your behalf.

"(Thieneman) is the best single-high safety in the country right now."
Last season, Thieneman racked up 106 tackles and six interceptions, leading Purdue in both categories. He was also responsible for two tackles for loss, two pass break-ups and two forced fumbles.
Because of his success last season, PFF ranks Thieneman as college football's No. 3 safety entering the 2024 season. That's a pretty high mark for a sophomore.
"His range is better than 80% of NFL safeties right now. I guarantee it. He's that good. ... He's the whole package: Speed, aggressiveness, ball skills, everything you want in a free safety," Wasserman said.

He fell off a bit this season, but you don't drop from a top player as a FR to a lower graded player because your aren't any good. My guess is he's trying to do too much on a bad D which pulls you out of position and affects your play.

LSU defense is not great, he may regress even more.

I don't think we're giving up 66 to Notre Dame and Indiana.

The bad thing is their offense was even worse. They averaged under 13 ppg against D1 teams and that included 2 OT games.
