I know Pearson has his moments, but he has way too many Ks, and his glove is just way too erratic.

I believe they'll be getting a SS from the portal which would indicate that position might not be available which would then make a competition between Park and Pearson for 3rd. Ruckert, Park, Claus will compete for 2nd. Braun at 1st. Watters, Patrick, and another transfer in the OF. Maybe Braun might take OF if Serna plays 1st at times as this would open up DH if Bide is catching.
ETA - Stand corrected...Clauss is in portal.

Mikey bell from Gonzaga who was Landon hood’s teammate would be a pretty big upgrade there. Although I am wondering if Milam will be returning and Dawson Park will be plugged in at 3B

Pearson hit .188 against the SEC this year with an OPS south of .700 at 21 years old while also being in/out the lineup

I'm pretty sure they arent just penciling him in as a starter for next year with no competition in mind or being recruited right now.

I think the top need right now is another starting OF... I hope another big offensive piece. Patrick can play CF, not to mention we may see one or two of the blue chip HS commits in the OF make it to campus.

From there, you can make the case for relievers or another infielder to get a look at 3rd or 2nd.

I like Pearson and Ruckert and think they'd be serviceable starters next year, but we'd need both to take a step up. Pearson needs to be a guy that can hit 15+ HRs with around a .300 average and Ruckert needs to get that batting average at or above .300 as well.

As far as pitching, getting Hood was big and returning our weekend rotation is great. We'll have to see what happens with Sheerin and Garcia. Hopefully they come back. I think Guidry will be back and an important piece there. Paz, Rickin, and Plog/ Lach should be ready to help a lot there as well.

Not saying they definitely wont get another OF, but we have 5 outfielders in the incoming freshman class; 4 of which are very very highly rated (in PG Top 50). They obviously dont expect close to all 5 to make it in but they expect bare minimum 2 of them and are hoping for 3. I think there's a good chance we find a starting OF from the freshman class. There's even a scenario where Braun could wind up in the OF (or another current player even).

The top end of this class is pretty similar to last year (11 Top 100 vs. 12 Top 100 last year) but the depth destroys last year's class by comparison (7 guys ranked 101-200 vs. 4 from last year). 8/17 guys went MLB last year and hoping for a much much better ration this year with 24 guys in the freshman class. We have 2 JUCO commits too.

Ruckert will be a great bat for LSU. Ryan Schimpf comp.

I’m not convinced on Pearson. Hoping for a Milam return, so Park can play 3B.

Got about a month to keep pondering this.

He's gonna need AB's to get the HR's. Problem will be getting to that .300 mark. Hope he can find some magic over the summer and reduce those strikeouts.

Yeah, there's a good chance that one of the incoming Freshmen could land the third spot. Curiel and Crews were awesome... I just always have some concern with how ready even blue chip recruits are for SEC pitching out of high school. The more option we have there, the better.

I would also say there's a good chance at least 2 if not all 3 of our top infielder commits make it to campus. I'd say they'll be given a good shot to battle at 3B and 2B with Pearson and Ruckert.

Wills Maginnis from Georgia St who was a 1st team All Sunbelt 3rd baseman and a top 20 portal player could be in play. In sure all the top schools are fighting for his services. Would instantly be our best infield glove if he goes to lsu
