Mark Duper never played high school football. Stan Humprhies signed with LSU and transfered to Northeast.

He didn't have much of a college career, but the most highly acclaimed player that I remember was Tyrone Vaughns of Ehret who signed with Tulane. Stovall did everything he could to get him at LSU, but couldn't.

don't think we lost out on Humphries. IIRC, I think he enrolled at LSU, was on the team for a year or so, then transferred, perhaps after academic difficulty.

Not sure who we did or didn't offer, but I'd imagine it would be out of Terry Bradshaw, Aeneas Williams, Stan Humpries, Doug Williams, Troy Edwards, Bubby Brister, Brian Mitchell, Jake Delhomme, Marty Booker, Ike Taylor, Matt Forte or BJ Sams.

I remember Center, Tori Tualli (spelling) was a coup for Tulane. He and Roydell Williams were good gets for the Wave.

correct.

Normally, cases where a player of Forte's caliber is not nearly as heavily recruited as he should be come down to academics. I think the Tulane offer refutes that argument by all means. In other cases, the player isn't a "can't miss" prospect and does not really develop until he gets to college. This was not the case either. I played against Forte in high school and he ran for nearly 300 on us coming off a sprained ankle a couple weeks before. In reality, Slidell's coach did an abominable job of getting Forte's name out there.

Not many of you know of or remember Tulane's Terrence Jones of Lutcher from the late '80's, but he was a 4.6 speed version of Michael Vick for Mack Brown's offense.

I remember when Bobby Bowden & FSU beat Tulane 77 to hardly anthing, and Bowden said afterwards Jones was the best athlete he had ever coached against.

Jones would routinely account for 400+ yards rushing & passing each game. I think one year against TCU, he put up 484 yards. Steeler's ex-QB Kordell Stewart said the reason he wore #10 was because TJ was his hero.

Speaking of Stan Humphries...other tranfers to NLU were Bubby Brister and Shawn King. Missed out on Doug Pederson.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Bradshaw was a LSU recruit but according to him didn't have the grades...

Out of state would be Marshall Faulk
