He seems like he could be the same type of elite receiver with some size and physical running after the catch. Just looking at him, he seems like he could continue the type of elite freshman WR we have had in the past.

In my opinion no. Nabers has elite burst and quickness. Francis is a damn bully and more physical than Nabers was in college already. I don’t see elite speed or burst in and out of breaks in Francis game but he’s going to do well here.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. I do however think he is built more like Chase. Very hard to tackle.

Body and the way he goes up in traffic for the ball both remind me of Chase, but he isn't quite as fast twitch. He'll be a very good player for us, but I don't think he's the first round draft pick type of athlete.

He was actually faster and more explosive than chase coming outta Hs. He ran a 10.86 100 meter compared to 11.05 for chase. Chase got more explosive at lsu. Manchild will do the same

That's crazy. The dude blows by NFL DBs like they're running in sand.

lol nabers may have the best combination of size, strength, explosiveness, raw speed, and general movement skills of any WR in the entire NFL. If taron Francis was similar to that, he’d have been the 2025 class’s WR1 over dakorien moore. You just can’t really compare HS prospects to guys like Nabers, even if you’re projecting what they’ll be in the future - almost by definition, you can only wind up with an athletic profile like nabers if your physical development during your college years far exceeds the expectation coming in. Even malik nabers wasn’t similar to malik nabers when we signed him.

All that said, I do think that Francis’s current build/skillset/physical traits suggest that he’s a guy who could become a beastly run-after-catch guy once he gets into a college weight program

I hope you are correct but the idea that the 30th ranked WR is a Bigger, Faster Jamar Chase seems a little hyperbolic. Not saying I think his ranking is correct but I do think its a bit unfair to set that kind of expectation on him.

The thing our recent run of WRs had in common was they were all really good route runners. Obviously they had physical skills, but the route running ability is so underrated as a WR skill and it is why our guys have recently been so successful immediately in the NFL.

Hopefully that continues with the development of guys like Francis.

I think this dude has more suddenness and wiggle than McMath, I also doubt he’s as fast as McMath in a straight line.

I could see him excelling as a power slot type of player. More in the mold of Jack Bech. Comparing any of these recruits to guys like JaMarr or Jarvis who are once in a decade types of talents is pretty wild to me.
