He was a redshirt sophomore this year. If he transfers he will have to sit out then only have 1 year left?

Yeah this would be a weird add. He'll be here and eligible only for Harris' senior season.

Insurance for when Harris goes berserk next season and then takes his talents to the NFL?

About the only positive spin i can put on that.

Only reason to take Lee IMO is if:

1. A current guy is transferring (Jennings, Etling or McMillian)
2. We do not sign a high school QB (Haskins, Russo, MacVittie)

That's a terrible thing to say.

What is this Gumper trying to say?? We know he can't play this year if he signs, it says in the article he has to sit out one year. So if he means he can't play this year, well duh, everyone knows that.

If he means he sucks, well I guess that remains to be seen. If you do have some inside information, can you elaborate or you just not able to?

@RossDellenger: Updated: Tanner Lee says he's petitioning the NCAA for a 6th year of eligibility thru a medical hardship waiver LINK #LSU

Makes more sense now. He'd not be eligible to play next year, but could be a suitable backup for Harris' senior year and then fight for a starting spot the following year.

Yeah as a redshirt sophomore if he gets that extra year of eligibility, he will have a year of sitting out, then what, he has 2 years or 3 years of eligibility?

If so that makes him able to learn the LSU playbook and system, plus Cam can develop him during his sit year.

Sounds like he will be groomed and able to compete for the starting job.

I like it, not putting all our eggs into one basket, especially like the Franks "EGG" who IMO needs a lot of grooming.

I've watched a lot of Tanner.

Always cool with more competition, but I don't think he'd play here.

I don't think ive ever seen him throw a pass over 10 yards against a quality team. Arm seems weak and I don't know how good his vision is

How many other Tulane players do you think he can convince to come with him?

Know this is just a coincidence, but another QB with the surname Lee?

First, Jarrett Lee, then Zach Lee (briefly); now maybe Tanner Lee?

Also, if Russo or another high school QB wants to sign, will LSU still take Tanner Lee?

I guess it is better to have too many QB's than not enough.

I'm not going to say he will, but he can be. He's transferring for a reason. He does provide depth at the least if he comes here, but 2 years means he and Etling are gone as soon as Harris is. Would be great to have several senior backups next year (if Jennings stays) and the year after though.

Just looked up and saw applying for medical redshirt, but why? He played in 9 games this year and 10 last year. Highly doubt he gets one, but there is a chance considering it's a couple years away.
