What's his natural position catcher? If he is, does he have a good glove? I don't see them snagging a C without them having a really good glove or either Bide/Serna leave unexpectedly.

He had 11 total defensive chances this year, so he was almost exclusively a DH. 3 total stolen bases, but he did have 4 triples.
Looks like he's been listed as a "C/OF" since he was a sophomore in high school, which tells me defense is not a priority for him. Kind of reads like a right handed Mason Braun, which I'm fine with.
ETA: To be clear, the Braun comparison was moreso about his positionless nature in college. He appears to be a better athlete than Braun.

With how athletic he appears to be, I wonder if you can sell him RF, especially with those power numbers. Could translate well to pro teams

I would assume they would give this kid a thorough look as he could potentially fill an OF role for them.

The portal does not open for more than a week, so I assume they meant planning to hit the portal.

Correct. However, they’re absolutely going to be looking at his film and analytics for the next couple of weeks and I’m sure they’ll have a visit scheduled as soon as June 1st gets here.

A positionless non-athlete who sells out for power and swings and misses a ton.
This is the exact type of player Jay was referencing this year when he said we went after the wrong type of guys in the portal.

Those were my first thoughts as well. He wants players that have some versatilely to them. Look at someone like Dickinson, he could have played 3 different infield positions had we needed him too.
