Suggs jumped in the portal quickly, so I doubt he was processed. Not sure on Kimo.

Suggs was a good gap player due to depth but Kimo just didn't pan out

Suggs was by far our best interior pass rusher, I'm not sure he was pushed out at all. I certainly wouldnt have pushed him out.

My guess is he was looking for more playing time or maximize NIL a bit more in his final year. He was mostly a 3rd down player for us here specializing in pass rush.

I think he figured out he would just be rotating and playing a certain number of snaps per game here. With McKinley and Washington a year older, a couple of others coming in, and Guillory coming back, there’s just so much time to go around.

McKinley definitely showed that ability in the last two regular seasons games. With his athletic ability, I think he would have passed Suggs up in that role. That doesn’t mean we would have pushed him out, but we wouldn’t have given him a raise for it, either.

Suggs is a loss. Kimo was processed.

Damn! I was hoping he might withdraw. I'm sure he is getting paid to leave but in his case, I think it is more about playing time in college his last season. Out of the 18 players who appear to be gone from LSU, he is one I really wish he stayed. I think his push up the middle would have really affected Baylor's passing game. LSU only had 1 sack...by Paris Shand...and I certainly think as others have said that Suggs was the best inside pass rusher. Hope he does great things at Wisconsin!

Maybe neither. Might have been guys they would keep but for depth/emergencies. I think Suggs could potentially have progressed but Kimo was stuck behind people and would be again. I think both left to get more playing time.

Kimo probably ends up at a smaller school where he can step in and start day 1, it is his last year. Suggs will be determined by where he goes.

ETA: Suggs went to Wisconsin, not sure how they look in the middle but he will be much closer to home. 400 miles vs 1100 miles

Suggs

He was this season's Jordan Jefferson (WVU).

Played well and was disruptive. At times he looked like our best interior DT... but for whatever reason, the staff didn't give him enough snaps.

Great analogy to a past player and I have no idea and many of this board have said the same thing questioning why Suggs didn't have more snaps. I'm not saying starting the guy but he should have been on the field a lot more.

Agree. He really showed a lot of improvement and was the only DT that could whip the oline at times.. McKinley with a few flash plays, and you can’t expect too much from a freshmen’s DT, 5 star or not, but he still has a ways to go to be a consistent force in the middle. He could make a big jump by next fall.

DT play at UW was awful. They’ve been very aggressive in the portal. They aggressively recruited Suggs last year.Matt Mitchell (Suggs HC at GVSU) is on staff at UW, though not the DL coach

If Suggs can be above average, he’ll get all the snaps he wants

He wasn’t even remotely close to Jordan Jefferson, if he had any sort of pro potential he would’ve went to the draft. He played 10 snaps a game for us and was an average pass rushing DT that was absolutely abysmal against the run. He had all of 11 pressures this entire season. Jordan Jefferson was 3X the DT Suggs is.

Then I think this is a win-win for Suggs & Wisconsin. He is a good player and I think he'll be good. Wouldn't have minded keeping him.

No way was Suggs processed. I actually think we need to get someone else here personally but apparently staff doesn't think so. I wish Suggs didn't jump he looked to have a lot of potential and it seemed like he constantly got pressures when he came in. Weird situation .Wonder if he got mad they didn't play him enough?
