Austin is dramatically different from the '90's. I live in Houston and they are a joke. San Francisco east. They pass some of the most ignorant laws. Better enjoy paying for toll roads. It's the only way around town.

Yeah, he is the 1st kid to ever transfer in NCAA history. I suppose all of them were violations too?

Nuts.

Or TOPS if he is eligible and not past the time deadline ?
I don't know his academic info, but I'm sure he would eligible. Dunham is a pretty good school so I'd imagine he would at least be eligible for the basic level of TOPS.

The deadline hasn't passed either. You have 1 full year to claim your TOPS eligibility after graduating high school. So between TOPS and other forms of financial aid(Pell Grant), he could easily pay his way for a semester. Texas is just butt hurt. Maybe Tom Herman will kiss it and make it better.

TOPS is still available your second year if you didn’t go your first year to a Louisiana school. It is at a reduced payment though

I THINK that if you accept any form of scholarship (i.e Tops, school based grants, etc...) you count against the 85 man scholarship limit. Prevents schools from having a bunch of walk-ons getting free tuition on "chemistry honors scholarship" and BS like that.

Wouldn’t it be sweet to fill a position off need with another one

maybe they need a wall. keep them California refugees out. I mean, texas doesn't need people that don't fall lock stem in with neo cons. freedom of speech and thought is not important. only people that agree with me should be free.

maybe you should travel more; you may discover things and increase you tolerance of others. it's liberating.

Texas fans moaning and groaning about a kid transferring and entering school near home. Nothing's changed around there I guess.
I also guess the transfers or walk-ons they get have been paid as well. Just ridiculous.

That makes sense, although I would hope that TOPS would be different since it appears to be based on a formula and is not discriminate on the student or school.

Austin ain’t what it used to be.

Was there back in October, saw a million Beto signs and not one Cruz.

Could never live there,

If he’s truly poor like the poster stated, there’s several federal grants that he could take advantage that do not need to be paid back if he completes his coursework.

This type of talk is typical of Texas fans. Ingorant and delusional.

Nothing illegal about someone paying for your education as long as it is not paid by university or coaches if student does not have a scholarship.

So why doesn’t T Boone Pickens or Phil Knight pay for tuition for a ton of players so they can have more scholarship slots?

Answer is that it’s an illegal benefit.

ETA:
There are obviously ways around this with “family friends”

From scholarship at Texas to walk on at LSU by choice is far more than fishy

Conveniently leave out that LSU idnt just another school in another random state, LSU is home for Mike. Friends on the team and other players he's familiar with. He wanted to be HOME.

If I was picking today (before visits and in-home visits before signing day) I'd say.
1. Ish
2. Rod
3. Lee
4. Hampton
5. Parker
6. Williams/Ward

5 and 6 could change quickly depending upon how some visits shake out. Moore and Young are definitely worth watching for DL.

Definitely not correct. If you have an athletic scholarship and play football though, it has to count against football.

Yes? I never said it didn't. I'm saying any form of scholarship (academic or athletic) counts against your 85 man scholarship limit.
