that if they visit elsewhere they lose their offer? Why can't we do that?

Anyone can do it. I think miles did it for awhile. It’s tough to stop the kids from going on visits.

Personally, I dont think that is a bad idea. Especially with out of state recruits. Mac Brown use to do it at Texas will ALL recruits. And they had very little turnover and BS.

Your either 100% IN or not...if your not...we are recruiting others...

Would stop most of the games being played...

Kind of a sleazy but no rule against it. It's a tactic that could come back to bite him when this run they've been on ends. Schools will and probably already do use it to negatively recruit against him. "We dont hold our recruits hostage like some others. We want what's best for you and for you to make an informed decision go on visits and enjoy your recruitment"

I agree but I think Dabo tells them dont commit, if you are not 100% sure. If you are sure commit, but no more visits...

Pretty straightforward, then there is NO misunderstandings...

I kind of hate this tbh. If I had a school tell me this I would prolong my decision and take it as a turnoff to some degree. But I’m the kind that would stick to my word if I did commit. My 2 cents

Also Clemson has the #1 class, and it seems to be working...

You can do this kind of thing when you’re on top. Everyone wants to grab a spot on the 25. Slip a little and that will change for some. But once you establish that reputation while on top, it will coast a while in effectiveness.

But they also missed out on great players because they had their 25 in June and started going from number 1 classes to 7-12 by the end of his tenure

I know a kid that was recruited by Miles. After he committed to LSU, Miles told him to take the rest of his visits as mini vacations.

When you play in 3 national titles in 4 years and go to the playoffs every year it helps.

Now that is where its up to the coach's to ACCEPT the right 25.

The OP didn't say anything about a commit by this date analogy...

I like this stance.

We need to get back to this philosophy across all matters, not just football recruiting.

If you COMMIT - then honor that. If you cannot honor it, then don't commit = you're just window shopping.

The flip side is if your commitment is accepted then that needs to be honored also correct?

He tells them that God will smite them if they go elsewhere. Also tells kids they are breaking the commandments of adultery by going on visits after committing.

You are correct goes both ways....Coaches would need to be sure...to except this certain guys pledge.

No matter what format....by doing this. It would stop a lot os BS all around ..

If we did or could do this with out of state guys...for sure. I think it would be a winner. You take visits after committing. You are dropped forever never to be in contact again. If they do , they were never really coming —-just playing games ala Jarret.

Again it is a privilege, not a birth right...

Also tell the recruit their commitment is accepted conditionally:
They MUST keep their grades up; be a good citizen, I.e. don't get in trouble; continue working hard and developing as a player. Also whatever other conditions apply to this individual player
