re: Shea: If you’re not familiar with #LSU WR signee Jalen Brown’s speed, this sums it up.

On top of speed, brown is a good route runner.
He also catches the ball with his hands, at its peak.
He reminds me of Boutte in that regard.

Or Nuss slinging it deep for the next 1 to 2 years

Trey Palmer is a better comp than Boutte

Hard to get excited about recruits.
If they don't start right away, they transfer

No it’s not lol. You literally see that everywhere now. If high profile 4&5 star kids don’t see the field by year 2, they are gone. Thats why LSU and most team nowadays continue to have depth issues.

I'm just excited about the WR as a whole VS what it was last year. The HS EEs plus Anderson and Hilton, there should be more than enough playmakers and speed this year. Great job by the staff

Nabers may be slowest as you say but he is money on the football field, he ain’t running track. He runnin to the NFL on the fast track though

In my experience with kids, speed like that is a god given talent. Kids can work hard and get faster, no doubt. But they are unlikely to ever beat a kid born fast. The kid who is smoking all the kids in his six yr old soccer league is very likely to still be the fastest later. Brown has natural talent, that's elite speed.
Speed is one of the most important metrics in recruiting. An all state kid from a 1A league might not start for some 5a teams. Its apples to oranges.
Speed times, however, are apples to apples. You know for a fact a 1a kid who runs a 10 flat 100 meters is faster than a 5a kid who runs a 10.5.
And I don't care how smart and wise a cornerback you are, if a kid faster than you gets behind you, you aint running him down. That's why its exciting to have a kid with this potential.
Boutee was an underachiever, but even so was physically developed enough to play SEC ball as a freshman. From what I have read, Brown probably needs a year of college weightlifting to be a factor.
Having a kid who can blow the top of the defense is a big advantage. Even when they aren't catching balls, they are keeping the safeties honest.
LSU sure has had an embarrassment of riches at receiver. Nabers is a gamer. Thomas has yet to scratch the surface of his potential, Hilton too. Lacy is player too. Anderson is a stud too, who might not even start.

Speed is great but a great route runner and a WR that can catch every ball is better. If they have all three, a La, JC, then great

The ability to instinctually run the correct option route can turn a very average straight speed kid into WR1 in a heartbeat. Not saying Nabers has average speed, but his ability to just plain get open is by far, the best on the team.

damn that Jarvis pic, might've been a big reason he decided to come here to follow in his footsteps, thats why its important to keep the pipeline to the NFL so kids can grow up wanting to be like their fav players and take the same route they did

Chris Hilton - "Won the 5A Louisiana Outdoor state title for the third time as a senior with a jump of 6-07.50 … Also claimed the 2021 5A state title outdoors in the 400-meters with a time of 47.50 … As a senior, recorded a season-best jump of 7-0 ¼ … As a senior indoors, he claimed 5A state titles in both the 400-meters and high jump … Won the Louisiana indoor state championship in the high jump as a sophomore and the 5A state championship in the same event as a freshman"

This young man will be a match up nightmare with great separation potential.

Hilton is fast af. Wonder how his recovery is going.

quote:Man, the overall team speed is increasing. We have a running back coming in that ran a 10.66 100m. Pretty damn cool.
I think Aaron Anderson ran 10.75 or something in high school as well. And Hilton is right there with Anderson. Nabers and BTJ might be the "slowest" WRs on the field in a 5 wide set.
