McMahon is a damn beast man.

THIS! The guy came here with a cloud over the program, but has NOT let that deter him in any way from building a program. Hope this team surprises everyone next season and the NCAA is lenient with any final findings/actions.

Yeah, it may be time to get him a nickname or something like that. He may not be the gangsta that Wade was, but he may end up being a godfather. Let's keep it rollin'!

I hope McMahon is more circumspect with the payments.

Hopefully his wife has multiple accounts set up.

I think a better point guard that shoots consistently would have been better. It’s a great roster otherwise.
You're making friends around here real quick Mrs Clinton.

Watched some recent film on Phillips.

Definitely not a starter, and will be a work in progress but I do think he can help the team next year.

How will Dickie V and Pat Forde blame this recruiting success on Wade "cheating", now that McMahon is doing this?

I guess... I guess they'll just have to get a life now.

I don't know if I'd say he's "definitely not a starter." Is he a guy LSU is likely going to run offense through? Probably not. But if you have other guys who can score, a big man that can rebound and defend is invaluable. That is essentially what Kavell Bigby-Williams was asked to do...and it allowed other guys to flourish.

KJ Williams is a skilled offensive PF. If you can take some of the load off of him defensively and on the glass, that can allow him to play to his strengths more. Phillips could come in next season, average 4-5 ppg and still be a HUGE piece to the team. Everyone rates players on their offensive contributions...but great teams have to defend and rebound as well.

I think Coleman will start over Phillips even though he is undersized. The film I saw Phillips was pretty sloppy with the basketball and needed a lot of work. It was from Feb. of 2022.

Coleman has experience at the college level that you just can't teach.

Could Phillips start over Coleman at some point...maybe. I just think the coaches are gonna have to work him hard.

That's why they aren't going to run much offense through him. Dunks and putbacks will be all you expect from him early on, and all you really need IF he can rebound and defend the paint.

Coleman was a solid player on a bad team in a weak league. A team that played absolutely zero defense. He'll be a contributor for this LSU team. But you already have a very solid PF in KJ Williams. You don't want to wear him out having to guard and body true 6'10+ SEC bigs to the point it hurts his offensive efficiency (which is his strong suit). Phillips has the size to take on that role defensively and on the glass. And that's all he needs to do.

It's no coincidence that the two highest seeded NCAA Tournament teams in the Wade era were also his two best defensive teams. LSU MUST defend if they are going to have success. KJ Williams is not thought of as a "plus" defender or shot blocker...and that was against mid-major competition. If possible, let Phillips take that role. It will allow Williams to thrive offensively which is where he is best

You could be right Alt26. Will be interesting to see how the coaches lean.
