So, was Lewis' offer a commitable one? Who was higher on the list? Just Maclin?

Yeah, LSU definitely wanted Lewis, but they didn't want him enough to offer Hurd.
I would guess that the only guys that were rated above Lewis were Maclin and Corey Nelson.

and like books said, they've seen him at camp 3 times over 2 summers and obviously felt mathieu was better.
i never understood the fascination over a 5'8 corner with average ability and speed anyway.

The Bates bashing needs to stop. The kid can rush the passer, something we need more of. People need to watch his videos.
Lewis is damn good, but he's also small. Shea said that Eric Reid is much bigger in person than Lewis is, for example. So if Reid moves to LB, which is a possibility IMO if Loston makes it in, then who's to say he doesn't make a better LB than Lewis?
And Books is right here. We had Hurd to both camps, and Mathieu got the schollie over him. Simply watch Mathieu's video and you'll know why.

I agree from the little footage i have seen Mathieu was a better pick up than Hurd was. I dont think we land Shaw but we still have some CB's on our board better than Hurd.
