Thanks for putting this together. It’s very detailed.
I think Harris and Moffet are gone but we are still at 75 with Wingo and Shorts.
Let’s say we get 4 more freshmen signees, 2 more transfers, Cage and Mashburn keep their scholarships, Andre Anthony and Deion Smith stay for another year, and all of the other transfer portal players leave. That is 85 scholarships.
4 more players will have to leave in that case.

Great list! One question though. Fitzgerald West was an OL recruit wasnt he? His 247 shows him as a Center.

Would love to get Andre Anthony, Deion Smith, and Raydar back.

I have not seen anything on Raydar leaving. Did I miss something?

Crazy how the Oline went from a huge question mark to potentially the strongest unit on the team almost overnight. Very nice work by the staff with that.
Also if Raydar and Cage both stick around then the DB numbers aren't as bad as was 1st thought. Especially with 2 experienced transfers in Brooks and Garner starting on the outside. Safety will be interesting, I'm assuming Ward will go to the Nickel and Foucha and Sage will be the main safeties. That's actually not a bad secondary at all.

Nice work. Depending on how Spring goes. We should get to 81.

Lots of youths about to get some SEC experience before the Howard era begins
Perfect for a “rebuild” year

He was listed as a D-lineman on recruiting sites for a while but was considered an OL by LSU insiders.
Wouldn’t be the first time there was disagreement on where a linemen would play, with Joseph Barksdale being a high profile example.

Do you realize how long it took to dig this shite up?
I guess you’ll have to forgive me for leaving off the two guys that committed this morning.
To sweep that omission under the rug would be to revert to an O-ish "the inmates are running the asylum" mentality!
Take a lap.

Harris needs to hit the portal. A Nicholls St or Northwestern St would better fit him

There is some buzz around him potentially entering the portal. I hope he stays

Very nice work! Thank you!
I have one suggestion for you though. Perhaps add a column for eligibility remaining? Or at least add it for the transfers.

To be clear, I didn’t mean to suggest that Cage was a risk to leave. Just that he was a transfer walk on who might earn a scholarship moving forward.
As for Raydar, supposedly Shea said on Culotta’s show that he might be leaving. I didn’t hear it, just read it here.

I'm sure Harris is a nice young man, but I saw numerous plays where he looked like he was afraid to embrace the tackle. His play has caused my dog to cower in fear when I watch his missed and timid tackling. Perhaps he was hurt and was protecting himself?? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Wish him well, but I think we could do better. Need more LaRon Landry or Chad types.

Great work. I have 78 on my list. Obviously you haven't added Wingo and Shorts. 80 if you count Ray Jones and Todd Harris
I have Mashburn as having a scholarship. Thought it was said that he got one in season? Am I wrong on that?
Also West is an OL
I would assume some attrition will still happen?
Perry, Fonua, Xavier Hill, Dumvervil, Moffitt are guys I believe will transfer out

Thank you for the effort, great info, and close enough to get good idea. Things are changing daily around here. So if it's right today could be wrong tomorrow LOL

No, you are correct. Jack Mashburn, Evan Francioni, Nick Demas and Spencer Payne were all awarded scholarships this year and I didn’t count any of them. I didn’t realize they had received scholarships until after I made the OP. At the same time, I counted Aaron Moffitt who is apparently gone. So it would be 78 on my list of returning guys. If you add Raydar, Wingo, and Shorts that’s 81 (our cap). So we would need to cut a scholly for every additional signee at that point.

I would definitely expect more to come after spring camp. Some guys are probably waiting to see where they fall in the pecking order.
I hope you’re wrong on Dumervil. And Fonua. Have there been any reports on why Dumervil wasn’t available for the bowl? I know we had a combination of suspensions, academic issues, injuries, and COVID protocol but it’s hard to tell (or keep track of) which guys fell into which buckets.

To be honest I was kind of flying through the position assignments. My intention was mainly to see where the overall numbers fell out. It’s a bit of a rabbit hole.. especially on defense when you try to figure out which guys are DT’s vs. DE’s (3-4? 4-3?), safeties vs. NB’s vs. CB’s, or whatever.
I just was trying to get close enough to easily count/check the numbers without necessarily projecting a depth chart. That’s also why I just ordered them by class.

West is shown as “DL” on the LSU 2022 commits page at 247 and on his 247 profile page as far as I can tell. But you may still be right about LSU wanting him to play OL.

Fonua would solidify the DL rotation. He, Wingeaux (or Guillory/Roy if you want to start him) and Evans would be a good rotation in. I'm not saying who starts and who doesn't. Could be a case something like Eason - best player comes off the bench - in Maason or Roy's case to take advantage of a weakness spotted up stairs or as part of a planned scheme like a blitz or scissors stunts. Call it a hunch. I believe we will see a lot of NFL style attacking mismatches so who's playing when/starting isn't going to be all that relevant. Certainly not after the first drive or two.
There's others to look at for his spot, though. Might be better off team wise to look at what could be got in the portal but Soni has been a damn fine Tiger.
Gonna have to evaluate Langston, too.
I've been on Dumervil's side since day one but it's time to fish or cut bait. Physically capable but when he saw the field in 20' he looked tentative if not confused. I wasn't able to record this year's games to get a better look but he seemed to know his assignments in the run game at least.
Don't know the situation on missing the bowl game.
