I'm really starting to think this kid may have a chance to try out QB.

looks like an OLB candidate to me, honestly
he doesn't seem overly fast for WR or S, but i could be wrong

This is the BOL take on Gibson.
"***Prattville QB/Ath. Sam Gibson committed to LSU this morning following camp visits to Baton Rouge this weekend and Alabama on Monday. LSU offered Gibson following their camp and after working out for UA coaches on Monday and failing to land a Tide offer, Gibson decided to pull the trigger for LSU. Gibson, a good student and athlete, was simply caught up in a number's crunch with UA who have other prospects rated a little higher at both WR and DB."
I don't know anything about Gibson. But that's what BOL is saying.
Posted this in another thread before I saw this one. Sorry.

no way he is the 4.4 they bill him as... I think his instincts along with his physical skills makes him a Safety... could possibly grow into an OLB in Chavis's system...I could see that

it's gotta be true then...
seriously, I don't think this kid is a WR prospect at either school the way LSU and Bama recruit that position... but I think he has the ingrediants to be a decent Safety prospect.
Bothered a little that Saban didn't think so though

Well you can call me crazy, stupid, obtuse, delirious, or ignorant of the "recruiting" process.
But, at 6-2, 200 and a legit 4.44 40 yard dash...
Why not running back? That's right! Why couldn't Miles offer him at QB with an up front agreement that if it doesn't work out, we move you to an area of need? After all, the "dual" in dual threat is the run.
I'll admit it if I am eventually wrong, but this is what ran through my mind initially. Hell, Shepard went for it and agreed that if it din't work out at QB, he would shift to WR or slotback.
Now I "duck" because I know the ridicule is soon to come!

bla, bla, bla, typical Tide Fan. You only got him because Bama didn't want him. Give me a break.

Welcome aboard Sam! It's great having you as a Tiger - hope you enjoy loud stadiums on a Saturday night! And we'll crank-up the volume just a little but more when you make a great play.

No kidding. Everythihg I have read says the kid knew he wanted to come to LSU to play football and attended the LSU camp instead of the Bama camp last weekend. In addition, he committed on the spot when offered. He didn't leave Baton Rouge for Tuscaloosa and commit over the phone after failing to secure a bama offer. That is total BS. Also, Dandy Don is reporting that Saban was upset that the kid camped in Baton Rouge instead of camping at Bama.
As far as people being worried because he had no offers from the instate schools... Auburn does want Sam Gibson and will continue to recruit him hard and will probally offer him sooner rather than later since he has an LSU offer in hand.

I don't think anyone is considering Broadway a hot item any more.
