Coach O and all those meaningless 3 stars.

He was a 4*.
Look at composite, not individual services.
Of our current commits, I think we only have 5 who aren't a 4* on at least one of the recruiting site.

yes, he was, but Rashard Lawrence, Guice, Key, Greedy Wiliams, Toliver, White, and Donte were high 4 and five star guys. 3 stars can be good they just don’t have near the success rate of higher ranked players. And like 13 of our commits are 3 stars and we have no players in the top 100, that is absolutely unacceptable and scary for the future of our program.

OL are hard to rate in terms of stars. Look at all the 2 or 3 stars in the NFL.

You know that guy that plays linebacker number 40?

the rating system is only ONE TOOL I selecting a recruit. on an overall team basis the star ratings are important but on any individual player they are much less so. true on all positions but some more so than others. there is no question that les miles signed teams with very high star ratings but some of his classes were very inferior at certain positions. chavis couldn't sign any middle LB's (he preferred guys not much different than safeties) and brick haley signed damn few elite DL guys. with all of those uber highly rated recruiting classes dave aranda came in and had to convert DE's and begin recruiting LB's like crazy and Orgeron had to recruit DL like crazy. not to mention that Grimes had a lot of crap on the OL.
I would rather a balanced class than a slightly higher rated one. I mean if you sign all skill players and DB's you can't get to the top as only so many can be on the field at one time.

Is this a coach o 3 star though?
I believe Grimes and Juluke were in on his recruitment.
I mean I guess coach o gets some credit for holding on to him and was probably recruiting coordinator.. I just wonder who originally discovered him. Grimes has not done as bad as some may say.

Yeah, our o-line was a plus not a minus this season.

Don't panic just yet. LSU is thought to lead for the #4 (Surtain) and #8 (Marshall) in the nation. They are also thought to lead for the #50 and #75 players in the country.
No, you aren't going to win in the SEC by just signing a ton of 3* players. But there are still some VERY big fish LSU is in on. Let the process play out. Alabama is currently ranked 24th (8th in SEC) with ZERO top 100 players committed. Somehow I think their recruiting class will turn out ok.

Aw c'mon man. I looked up Charles and 247 had him as a 3, and posters are blasting O for 3's..Stop being hurtful.

There's usually only 12 to 15 5 star players per year, total.
