somewhere in the million sopsher threads it was mentioned that he had been reclassified for 2020. has that been confirmed?

Thanks. I was confused because a lot of the list of our last signees still include both sopshers.

Yea this is probably the 32nd thread about this.

The one thing I just don't get is how someone who's NCAA clock has already started is able to just reclassify into a new class? Maybe I'm overthinking it or something, idk.

He still would come in with only 2 years to play 2 instead of the typical 3 years to play 2 for JUCO. The classification only matters for what year you can enter a D1 institution.

Got you, ok. Like I said, I think was over thinking it.

You haven't invested a fricking thing in this recruitment.
I hope you are Bama bound. I would much rather have the Sopshers.

Not sure if bashing an LSU recruit on an LSU recruiting board can get a poster a ban or not. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

When you move between the two, the idea of what class you are in, i.e. when you move, becomes fluid.
Somewhat of a related example: you go to JUCO because you don't have the grades and/or credits/hours to qualify for Div I. If you don't qualify your class changes. To move from JUCO back to Div I, the same thing applies.
The "class clock" and the "eligibility clock" are different... "class clock" depends on division, "eligibility clock" keeps running.
ETA: sorry Thunderbird... didn't see your reply.

OK I get this but surely there is a time limit on the "selected classification" thing. can anyone just select their year to sign after high school? JUCO?

Focusing on selected classification is kind of the wrong way of looking at this. You typically have 5 years in which to play 4. That clock starts when you enroll and attend class at a 2 or 4 year institution. It doesn't matter whether you play sports or not that clock starts.
I can only think of a couple of reasons for him to delay until next year. First, he may be acknowledging that he isn't going to qualify. The second is that he is purposely delaying until there is room at the inn of his choice.

The answer to your question is Josh Booty.

The situations between the two aren't similar. Von Rosenburg didn't start his eligibility clock until he got to LSU. He didn't transfer between three jucos after not being able to get on the field at two of them.

I’m tired of the Sophser drama. This thing has taken on a life of its own. Still would love to have Ish but it seems like LSU is purely his fallback option if other places don’t work out. I wouldn’t count Oregon out of the race either.

Yes, you are definitely overthinking right now...everything is fine.
