Am I the only one notices Rivals seems to give Louisiana kids a big bump compared to other services?

Rivals had Maason Smith as the #1 overall recruit last class so they have been complimentary of some of those LA kids:
Maason Smith Rivals
By comparison 247 had him as the #30 overall and #3 DT.
That's a pretty big difference.

Usually I’d be one to not count my chickens before my eggs, but everything I’ve read, says we are in a very good spot for his services.
It can’t help that we have arguably the best DB coach in the nation in Raymond and our new DC, Jones is a very well respected DB coach who’s young, hungry and eager to prove himself with a big boy role.

247 having him #30 overall shows a lot of respect for the kid's talents. they obviously think highly of him. Just not the best overall player in the class type of respect.

Because they trust Sam and actually have a person dedicated to exposing LA kids unlike 247 or ESPN. It's amazing how much better kids can be evaluated when they actually get exposure. And I hate Rivals but I also give credit where it's due. These days it's a pick your poison thing because they all have severe warts. There's no honor or real credibility with their rankings. Any of them.

Ok can someone explain to me how Rivals 5-stars work? Howard is listed as a 5-star at #39 in the nation. There are at least 10 guys ranked ahead of him that are not 5 stars. Did they fail to update the rankings list?

I could be completely duped by a false bravado but it seems like Jimmy Details has a respected opinion at Rivals and he simps for LA talent.
