IMO Gerry is the best there is on Texas, I trust the heck out of him

This is why I follow recruiting so much.
Its like a soap opera, except with football. And you get a new cast every February!

What site is that? All the big ones are confirming at this point. I try to keep up with Longhorn recruiting pretty closely, so curious if I'm missing out on a site.(I think a couple of the Longhorn analysts are among the best in the business at scouting and knowing their shite on Texas prospects and their recruitments)

So true. It never lacks drama.
If it's Gerry Hamilton originally reporting it at 247 he's the best Longhorn guy and one of the best period IMO.

if this is being run through the texas internet media as an announcement, then all it means is that texas just found out they weren't getting him. same douchy shite they always do.

This. They ALWAYS try to spin it as to why they didn't get a recruit. Like cry me a damn river

It's going to be funny come next year when we start taking players from Texas left and right, a majority of those fans will start hunting for Mack

well, it will be interesting to see where Seals-Jones ends up. he recently had mentioned the SEC angle. who knows what impacts a guys decision but A&M will to slightly above a .500 team this year with a freshman qb who is run first. not a good fit from a football angle but then there is basketball. so who knows as the drama continues.

Trust the Ags commenting here. We have had a good run of finishing second on recruits to Texas. Brown's empire is built in perception and pr and riding a great college player every once in a while He won't lose a recruit to A&M in the first SEC season for A&M. You can mark it down.

Anyone explain why they are dropping him?
Posted on 9/13/12 at 7:49 am to Captain Crown
I don't know where he ends up but A&M already has derrick griffin (6'6) and if you team him with Seals-Jones then NOBODY would be able to stop that combination except an awful qb.

"He's getting paid money"
"He's an injury risk, evident by his knee injury"
"Something shady is going on there"
Three likely responses you will get from most Longhorn fans. No one knows and will know why they did unless Mack comes out and says it

Griffin won't make the grades Larry.

I will say, in defense of UT, that this kid's recruitment has been very strange.

You know, I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I agree with the Texas guys. Something isn't right here.
First, he hurts his knee. Regardless of the severity of the injury, it's still the knee. Add that to the fact that he's allegedly involved with an AAU coach. Everyone and their mother that follows recruiting know that AAU coaches are the scum of the earth.
Something isn't right here for Texas just to stop recruiting him cold turkey. If I were LSU, I think I'd be walking on egg shells at this point.
I hope no one tries to say that these rumors are never true about street agents. Remember Seastrunk. We even had a guy here that knew him personally and swore up and down that Seastrunk and his family would ever be involved with something like that.
It's cliche on these boards, but where there's smoke, there's fire.
I don't think this is crazy talk

Inside Texas - they seem to know what's up along with 247 but I would go with 247 over anyone most days of the week.

Here's the take of the Texas fan site that usually steals from all of their pay sites: BurntOrangeNation.com
quote:
Based on history, Brown in the past has not liked to deal with some long recruitments that involve a handful of other schools. It was a frustrating tendency and that thought after the last recruiting cycle was that the staff as a whole was being more patient in such instances.
It may not have been with one of the top players in the country.
