It's a shame how bad we screwed over Elliot Porter.
I bet he hates us.

I have a friend who plays for NSU and he said that Garrett smoked packs of Marlboro Smooths (menthols)weekly. At least smoke regular ciggurettes.

wish he had smoked more and eaten less while he was at LSU

This is similar to dropping a negative news bomb on a candidate right before election day... which is considered a TOTAL ethical breach in journalism.
This is the same concept... lesser, of course... but irresponsible all the same. LSU should be rightfully raising hell about this... AS WELL AS THE SEC.
This is bullshite.
Yes.

Good point. Real journalist would mention the fact of him coming back to LSU BECAUSE of coach Miles. Dipsh*ts.

Getting a greyshirt offer isn't being screwed over.
1) We've had plenty of guys greyshirt and then go on to have successful careers at LSU, like Justin Vincent, Harry Coleman, and Trindon Holliday. Getting a greyshirt offer DOES NOT mean that you won't be part of the team and it DOES NOT mean that you'll never start.
2) Elliott Porter still had an "out" and he wound up on scholarship at another SEC school. Turns out he didn't like it there, regretted his decision and wants to come back home.
I don't see how we screwed Porter over at all. Porter and his family had a choice presented to them and he chose to go to Kentucky. I guess that ended up being the wrong choice.

That episode won't dissuade a 17-year old recruit. Just like overdosing on drugs, drunk driving accidents and getting a girl pregnant......their mindset is "that'll never happen to me".

Porter did get screwed. The timing and the fact that he never heard a word about a greyshirt until they actually asked him was horseshite
Good thing he's not a pussy though and came back and will hopefully crack skulls

porter was supposedly told earlier in the process he might be asked to greyshirt... he didn't like that at all but he was told
he had the option to go somewhere else when he ended up being the unexpected last man out and chose not to take it

From what I recall from the summer, this was most definitely not the case

from what i recall it was... he was asked about it and didn't respond positively at all
He was the last man out at LSU and offered the chance to transfer if he preferred not to take the greyshirt
sucks to see it happen in a public forum but this can happen with non athletic scholarships too

Garrett reportedly weighed in at NSU at a robust 258 pounds. Don't think the nation or anyone that follows college football will sympathize with an overweight kid that was given opportunities to win the job and didn't.

What bothers me most about the Garett piece is that they portray it like he was an upperclassman who was cut to make room for more schoolies, not a freshman who had never seen action and passed on the depth chart by a walk on. The accusations of fraud were borderline slander.

Now you know what it's like to be a conservative watching the dominant networks for the last 30 years, Baloo.
It starts at slander and moves swiftly to character assasination, and it's done with a really self-important, almost religious zeal.
ESPN is corrupt to the core.
