Konnor’s dad is hospitalized and on a ventilator due to COVID. Her sister and mom are sharing updates on their facebooks. Prayers for her and her family.

Speaking of dads and praying for someone in the LSU Gymnastics family: I’m sure y’all have heard by now but if you haven’t, Lucien Gunter, the father of Olivia Gunter who graduated from LSU and the Gymnastics program this past spring, passed away the evening of 12/7/2021. Anyone who has ever been to an LSU Gymnastics meet in the past few years or watched one on TV, either knows who Lucien was or can probably identify him by his crazy purple and gold outfits. He is definitely a presence that will be missed in the PMAC this season, as someone who was incredibly supportive of the team, the program and cheered on every single girl that Liv competed alongside, as well as the 3 freshman who are carrying on the legacy of the program. Please keep Olivia and her family in y’all’s prayers during this incredibly difficult time

Sad news. Several recent gymnasts have lost their fathers , Lexie Priessman, Sarah and Aleah Finnegan, Sidney Ewing and now Olivia. These men all raised their daughters right and these ladies were fortunate to have them in their lives.

Kind of puts life into perspective. Some days I get sad because I miss my Dad. Miss him so much. But when I realize I had my Dad for 30 years and these young ladies had their Dads for a much shorter time, kinda makes me more grateful and thankful for the time we spent together.

It’s all so horrible to hear. I’m 40, and my dad is a walking POS on earth still alive at nearly 70. Breaks my heart the good ones go so fast, and more importantly, all our gymnasts that won’t have their father walk their daughters down the aisle. In my own experience, i walked my sister down the aisle a few months ago (again, see loser father above (side note: i also wrote a lot of checks for that wedding which was just as painful)) but it pains me those amazing people will never experience that who had amazing fathers. If you have a good dad, call him tomorrow to tell him you love him!

On a positive note, kudos to all the fans!! It will be nice to finally have a full house this year

Has anyone watched the first looks or intrasquads from other teams this week? Here are my impressions (I’m by no means a gymnastics expert):
Michigan: picking up right where they left off; they rely very heavily on 3-4 all-arounders, although this obviously worked last year
Florida: showed 6 10 start value vaults plus Savannah is coming back from injury; obviously have a lot of depth this year so I do expect them to improve over last year. Got the “highest intrasquad score ever” for Florida LOL
Oklahoma: bars look amazing already but they are lacking depth and only showed 3 10 vaults. No Ragan on floor and no routines from Olivia Trautman or the two freshman L10 stars. If they can’t get those three in line ups I don’t think they’ll make four on the floor this year
Georgia: not impressed with the first look today (although I missed vault, which seems to have been the highlight). Team seems to once again be injured and lacking depth

Lsu with number one recruiting class for 2023 on college gym news. Don’t agree with their ranking system generally but they definitely got this decision right.

I mean they have 3 national team members and the top level 10 gymnast committed. Would have been pretty suspicious if they weren’t up there. The fact that they have Zoe miller and Amari Drayton as 3 stars

On a recruiting note, National team member Kailin Chio is supposed to come to a meet this spring. I would love to have her and Kaliya Lincoln for 2024

LSU is #5 in the coaches preseason poll. I Think that’s a little low but not too upset about jt considering we didn’t make four on the floor last year.
Not impressed with UCLA on floor or beam from what they showed yesterday. The WCGA preseason poll has them at #8, I think that’s about right…I could even see Minnesota or Arkansas passing them this year.

I think it will all work itself out, I think you have a core group of 5/6 teams that are capable of pulling off a natty. Will come down to executing when it matters most.
Will be interesting to see how beam progresses this year. I think there is going to be a lot of open competition in areas.

Kai Rivers from LSU has been hindered by injuries in her first two years of competition. Rivers brings huge all-around potential and has one of the strongest Yurchenko full vaults in the NCAA. She looked fantastic at GYM 101 and I expect things to only go-up from there.
Which Gymnast Will Have a Breakout Year?

RIP Marc McClain (Konnor’s father). you can tell from the peacock series and social media how much he would have loved watching her compete as a tiger. Such sad news to wake up to this morning.

Hey everyone!! It’s meet week!! I know there are a lot of people on this thread that follow LSU gymnastics but don’t understand the scoring. Trust me, you’re not alone, but Spencer from the Balance Beam Situation posted another quick (albeit deep) tutorial for everyone on each event.

First off, if you don’t read his content, start immediately. He’s hilarious and stays very unbiased and tells it very much like it is. Secondly, don’t worry if all his terminology goes over your head. Just keep it in your back pocket, and as you learn more and more about gymnastics, it’ll begin to make more sense to you.

People are complaining about our pack the pmac because of what amounts to a bad cold. Eyeroll
Edit: don’t know why I’m getting down votes. These girls are all vaxed, and if people are still scared they can not go. This isn’t an antivax post more of a it’s time to move along and of course it’s alway going to be lsu getting all the heat when I haven’t heard crap about other teams or BB.
