That cover was beautiful! But, UCLA will always have an advantage just being in an area where they will have opportunities like this.

I hope Cal makes it so that Jay will see that there is nothing wrong with double back dismounts on bars!

Super early but scores seem tighter on bars to me which isn’t ideal for LSU.

Very worried watching bars in the first session. Florida did a very nice job, though none of the gymnasts went higher than a 9.9.

On a positive note, Bryce Wilson finished 2nd in the AA at regionals, including a 9.9 on bars and an AA scored over a 38.700

Annie Beard finished 2nd in the AA and won the beam title.

I mean... Is anyone even surprised?

This is the exact wake up call Jay and the coaches need.

It wasn't just a beam issue. We desperately need better coaching, decision-making, routine construction across the board.

That tenth could have easily come from Bryant doing a 2 pass FX routine or the double front 1/2 on UB, Brock getting rid of the orphan giant 1/2 on UB, Desiderio not doing the switch 1/2 on BB...

fricking PREACH Babushka. If we can all see it, why the frick can’t they? Could you imagine how different this team would look if they would just make it easier? They would look like an unstoppable powerhouse just like Oklahoma. Prime example is the difference in Dean’s scores this year on beam after they changed it up a little.

Something I found so sad was Olivia Gunter said on Twitter they asked her if she wanted to see her best floor routine in those senior videos. She said in the video she always goes out of bounds on her double Arabian, and even with her best one, she still landed it badly, but then turned around some nice last two passes. So why? Why does LSU do that to their athletes? Seriously how different could things had been for her if LSU didn’t keep forcing her to do that double Arabian?

That is awesome to hear! Did they both make nationals? A 9.90 on bars is exactly what the doctor ordered! Very high for JO!

Any updates on Tori Tatum?

I felt like we said this with DD at the end of every season but it remained the same lol.I think the incoming freshmen class will be really needed to help balance out the young freshmen and sophomore classes.

I think LSU should push the envelop for 5 or 6 10.0 vaults next year. We have the vaulters and the talent. I trust Bob to get us there. We could maximize our scores even more.

Bars they have to address dismounts. You have two of them with form issues and another one that hasn't been stuck. I am happy with Brock, she is doing the best she can and she was thrown into the fire, can't complain about her.

Beam, water it down, water it down. Enough with the switch half. They need to learn to breathe and relax on beam. We haven't managed emotions/nerves well all year on beam. Breaking at the hip and lifting your legs just walking on the beam says all that needs to be said. Psychological preparation or something different is needed.

I am pleased with our floor and have no complaints other than wanting to scrap Bryant's dismount for something easier.

LSU will have a lot of talent to work with next year. Sky is the limit for them again, even higher than this years team. How the coaches manages routines and develop on bars and beam will tell the tale again. Floor and vault will be as strong as it has ever been at LSU next year. Aleah will be a game changer.

Thank you girls for a great season.

It looks like Kaytlyn Johnson had good meet too! She scored 38.75 AA. A 9.90 on vault, and swept gold on all events in her session. Way to geaux, Kaytlyn!

I agree tigerbait with everything you have said. Key to next season will be smarter routine construction on both bars and beam so that the girls can be confident in their routine. It says a lot that the only routine construction I don’t mind is kiya and Sami - so much room to improve. Will be great to get some great bars workers coming in to the team next year. In terms of recruiting are we going after anyone else to fill a potential spot that Caitlin will leave open for next year ?

All Americans based on last night’s final rankings:

Haleigh - 1st team AA, vault, beam
Kiya - 1st team vault, 2nd team beam, AA
Alyona - 2nd team bars
Livvy - 2nd team bars

Congrats to these gymnasts!

I meant to post this late last night but you beat me to it

Johnson had been injured the last two years but she has competed all season this year and looks better than ever. She will be able to step in and compete immediately for us next year which should be exciting.

I really don't know how they are going to select a vault or floor lineup next year.

Here are all of LSU's routines from yesterday if you want to watch

I went back and watch all of their routines last night. I literally could not sleep. I watched beam and floor twice (just had to). Beam was nerves. Bryant was the only one that didn’t seem nervy on beam. When has Desiderio ever wobbled on a beat jump? Thought Dean was underscored, although I think they finally took the form deductions that they haven’t taken all year. Campbell looked scared. It was all over her face. So unfortunate because that was probably her last time in an LSU uniform.

Overall I think this team had a great season (although losing to Bama three times frustrates the hell out of me!).
