Big meet! Best is yet to come, getting Olivia Dunne healthy and getting Arenas on a more expanded role will do some big things for this team.

Great bounce back for Alyona.

This meet was badly needed to get some confidence. Now this was a statement, a lot to build on.

I was so annoyed listening to the announcers during Christina’s floor routine. She was obviously in pain couldn’t even do her leaps and they kept talking about her conditioning and she had no energy. Her ankle is not good

You can start to tell that Kiya is not getting as many reps in practice. Her form looked off in all of her events tonight. With the Achilles pain, I’m wondering maybe you limit her next week vs. Georgia and hold her out against Auburn? That way she’ll get the extra bye week to rest. I know we need her but you can tell something is not right with her.

I honestly very much dislike KJC and Bart Conner and keep the volume as low as possible when they commentate for us because I can’t stand to listen to them trash LSU the way they do then sing the praises of every other team, even if we’re having a great meet and are accurately scored, they never seem to have anything positive or constructive to say about our girls. Desiderio’s so called lack of energy on floor was obviously due to her ankle(s) being in pain after the first pass and not an endurance issue. Case and point: she looked great last week and at gym 101, is the healthiest she’s been since freshman year, as if it wasn’t obvious enough, just look at how she landed the first pass

SEC team scores from tonight:

1. LSU 197.275
2. Florida 197.250
3. Arkansas 196.625
4. Kentucky 196.225
5. Georgia 196.075
6. Alabama 195.775
7. Missouri 195.750
8. Auburn 194.550

With a lot more to show!! Side note, Arenas and Brock look significantly better this week as well. Elena drilling that beam after getting thrown in last second was tremendous.

Much improved this week for sure. I was very happy for Alyona. I really do love her floor routine, so I hope she will make it back in the lineup. Vault scoring was so weird, and I did feel like judges were ready to give that meet to Arkansas.

I hope with Kiya that it’s just something mental right now, and not due to pain. I assume that if her Achilles was flaring up, they would take out that front toss like they did last year.

I’m so blown away by Haleigh. I knew she was greatness, but I’m still blown away. Her smiles after she hit each skill on beam just warmed my heart to the core.

And with that said... Elena deserves a shout out too! I hope we see her on bars and floor soon.

And I’m ending with I will wish every week we get to see Sierra on floor until we do! I know she will be a fan favorite soon enough!

I’m still hoping to see Ryan on vault. Maybe they’ll let her do exhibition next week since the meet is on SEC+ next week.

I hope they also give Ballard a shot on floor even if its just a exhibition.

From how Jay is talking, it sounds like there are other routines in the work that he expects in the lineup but he went with the experience early in certain spots.

Laughing so hard at whoever is running LSU’s Twitter. They said Elena didn’t compete beam last week, and then someone sent the screenshot, and they replied that’s our bad. They really have been struggling lately.

LSU gym just took a big shite on everyone! What a win and I think we had to top overall score in the country. Just wait until everyone gets healthy(Olivia Dunne). A lot of things stood out to me. Elena Arenas as a freshman and stepping in for Desidario and absolutely nailed her routine was impressive. Haleigh Bryant is a world talent not just SEC. The Seniors came out and made a statement that we are going for the championship this year. Great team win and you can tell the ceiling is really high. Lots of talent and depth.

I think we will definitely see someone else on floor next weekend and possibly bb too depending on Christina’s ankle. I would like to see Gunter and Ballard and maybe take kiya out or Bridget. On beam I would also take kiya out (for now) and if dunne’s ankle isn’t better let alonya have her BB shot. We looked 100% better this week though. Only up from here hopefully!

Side note on Kiya's beam they need to go back to the routine she did last year. They upgraded to the front toss which has given her major issues, she had them at 101, last week and last night. She is already doing way less reps due to her chronic pain so they need to lighten up on her routine.

Desiderio IMO is gonna be out next week, even if she is just sore because LSU wants her healthy in the long run come post season. No need to risk aggravating. the injury now. LSU showed they can still score well in her absence.

Elena looks significantly improved on beam. I wonder if she would benefit from a gainer full dismount because the one she currently does gets hit for lack of amplitude in addition to the step on the landing. She lost about a .100 on the dismount alone last night. With that said she showed she is super reliable and can hit under pressure.

Agree with everything you’ve said. I would like to see Arenas do the same dismount as Desiderio. I could be wrong but I think Christina has never missed sticking her dismount. Better to downgrade the difficulty of the dismount and have it be in combination with another skill than to chuck harder skill that’s more likely to get deducted

Christina may always stick her dismount but in the past she has had minor issues getting the full twist all the way around and I wondered if some judges, especially the ones on the same side she dismounts, ever took a small deduction.

If Elena changes, I think it makes the most sense to switch to the aerial + back full (finnegan did it and I think Bridget and Sami do also - nearly Florida’s whole line up does it). I think Christina sticks her often but to me I think it’s not to most elegant looking dismounts (but that’s just the skill, not Christina’s performance of it)

I have a question - does anyone know the story on why Haleigh only does front tumbling.? Her front tumbling is world class but even Jay mentioned in his interview last week that her lack of back tumbling did give them pause when they first saw her. She is obviously a star without back tumbling, just wondering if anyone knows the story. For example, Nastia Liukin has said she preferred front tumbling because it was less strain on the ankles, but I know others have mental blocks when it comes to certain types of tumbling (like I think Simone has a harder time with front tumbling than back and only does a front tuck in her elite floor exercise to fulfill the front tumbling requirement). Just wondering if anyone on this board has heard haleigh’story.

She had huge mental blocks when she was younger with back tumbling. It’s also why she doesn’t do a yurchenko entry vault and instead does a front entry vault.

Interesting. Yes when I say “front tumbling” I mean all tumbling adjacent skills, including her vault, UB dismount, BB series, and BB dismount.

Its refreshing to watch Haleigh, you don't see a lot of front tumbling in general.

I really really hope Bryant double front half soon on bars because she can get a 10 with a stuck dismount and I think it would be easier for her to land it.

First off, i want to say i love all of y’all! It’s like i found my people who are just as passionate about LSU gymnastics. Not going to lie, there’s been a time or two i wish some of us have a group text going during a meet. Interesting note about Haleigh and the front tumbling. I was always curious about that.
