Oh no. I do think her absence was felt on beam last Friday night.

357,

Is there any reason not to use exhibition routines? Seems like a great way to get the ladies some experience and work on things y'all have been talking about. Is there a limit? I was watching part of OU vs ASU and they used them repeatedly.

You can’t do exhibitions if the meet is televised live on SECN or ESPN due to time constraints. I hope the do utilize it when we are on the SECN+

I hope these two vaults end up being this way in live competition in by the end of February

They clearly can do these vaults. Not an ability issue.

Just had a chance to watch the OU vs. ASU meet. I am always amazed by OU’s beam and floor choreography. They had quite a few wobbles on beam, but you almost have to forgive them because the choreography is so beautiful. (I’m a sucker for great choreography.) I know a lot of people are saying it’s Florida’s title to lose, but I wouldn’t count OU out.

Just saw the Ashleigh is out again this week. Any thoughts on how much her missing affects the performance of the beam lineup? I did wonder last week if that was part of the shaky performance.

I mean it probably doesn’t help but LSU returned 5 of the 6 routines. Four of them are seniors with years of experience. I can live with Arenas making a mistake as it’s her first time out but I was expecting more from Durante and Campbell.

I still worry about Kiya on beam. That front toss they added is completely unnecessary and has given her many issues. There was absolutely no reason to upgrade.

I still think there are way too many difficult leap series. Desiderio despite being pretty much perfect gets hit every time for not hitting the split on the switch half. Kiya, Dunne, Ballard and D’Antonio also do the switch leap to switch half. It’s honestly insane and border line obsessive why we have that many of that leap combination. What other team in the county does this? Very few can actually do that series without a deduction.

How do you feel about Bryant being the anchor on vault? I think you keep her as the anchor because of the height and distance she gets on her vault. Kiya is going to score well as long as she controls the landing. But I would say Bryant is the better vaulter right now.

Is Bridget's shoulder better? are they thinking of putting her back in the bars lineup this weekend, because heaven knows they need to do something different.

Bryant has the cleanest vault of the 10.0 vaults but you literally can’t go wrong with either Kiya (doing her DTY) and Haleigh anchoring

Maybe it’s me but Elenas strongest events the last few years have been bars and floor yet we don’t use her on her best events. Elena should be in the bars lineup

I found it weird that Erenas was the first alternate on both bars and floor. Makes me think that maybe Jay was resting her a little. I know he's trying to give Brock a little confidence on bars, and that's why he put her in over Erenas maybe. And honestly, I think the better lineup order on bars is Erenas, Johnson, Alyona, Dunne, Bryant, and Durante. I know Kiya is the most consistent on bars, but I feel she can consistently score 9.90 if they take her out of that leadoff spot.

Also, congrats to Sarah Edwards on earning a scholarship.

Emma Jean won’t compete Friday. She’s in Covid protocol and hasn’t been able to train. Also, Hambrick and Shaffer will be doing the AA again. This is according to Jordyn’s Zoom call.

People love to talk about how LSU was overscored last Friday night. Ummm, did no one watch the Kentucky vs. Alabama meet? Both teams were overscored on all events. You can’t have a very short handstand and step on the dismount and still get a 9.90 from one judge. Or land your vault short and take a step and still score 9.85.

Did anyone see this OU floor routine that went 9.9?

LINK

I’m not disagreeing that our floor scores were inflated but definitely weren’t the only teams that had bogus scoring

Side note, I think it’s crazy they didn’t credit Arenas for her leap series but have Durante credit for her when she had a far worse break in between them

I thought Bryant’s floor score was too high but her vault was too low. Kiyas floor score too high bars were too low.

Definitely a 9.75-9.80 routine. That first pass alone (crossed legs, off line, big step) is worth a 0.20 deduction.

Emma has been constantly overscored on floor, you can check her routines last year. I just can't understand how she always gets that 9.9.
