Its pretty shocking that the state of Texas doesn't have any major gymnastics programs. Especially for a state its size and with many top clubs located throughout it. WOGA, Texas Dreams, Metroplex, Empire Gym, etc...
I'm not shocked on Vandy not having it. They really aren't a big spots school in general obviously. Outside of baseball at least.

Ill start a meet thread later on the rant around 6:30
Based on Jay talking this week. He basically said LSU would be 'heavily' relying on freshmen but does not intend to put any of them in the AA week one, same with Alyona. Everyone outside of Kiya will do 2-3 events at most week one.
Hope we come out strong tonight. Week one is always a bit up in the air and its a bit more unknown given the COVID offseason.

Any chance we'll see maddie rau or kamryn in the vault line-up? Or maybe alyona doing the 1.5? Really wish they'd go for 5 10.0 SV.

LSU will most likely start with four 10.0 vaults on opening night. The plan is for Alyona to do a 1.5 later tonight but it depends on warm ups I imagine.
Ryan is in the mix for a lineup spot for sure despite the rough vault at 101. She is doing some solid 1.5's in the gym and has done well all fall on this event. If she vaults later, its gonna be a full I imagine. I don't think they will overly push the vaults all on week one.
Brock also trains a 1.5 but again, if she were to be in the lineup later, she would do a full. They are still working that vault.
I'd like to see us over a 49.300 later but we will see.

Brock over Arenas on bars? Bridget Dean on floor? Arenas over Dunne on beam?
Unless there is some type of injury I am not aware of, that is weird.

Does Kiya like being the leadoff on bars? Just wondering we wouldn't move her to at least 2 or 3 and maybe put alyona 1st with her crazy dismount.

She has a pretty short and sweet routine and she is consistent, which is what you want out of a lead off routine. You want someone clean and steady to lead you off on every event.
There is no way Alyona would be a good table setter with that dismount. Not that she can't have great routines but that double layout is a adventure every time. I honestly wish she had a different dismount but Jay hates double tuck off of bars.

Maybe not leadoff but I don't understand why they would have her (alonya) on the back 1/2. That is not good score building to me. Or maybe even start with Bridget cuz she is usually (no jinxing!) a solid 9.8-9.85, where I think Kiya can and has gone higher.

I get what you are saying and dont necessarily disagree. I think they are hoping that with her next the back of the lineup, scores will be more favorable for her routine.
LSUs best bars lineup is Kiya, Elena, Alyona, Bryant, Dunne and Durante. How the order will end up going, not sure. Kiya will be first and Sami will be last. I’m not sure how they feel but last year was rough having 3 freshmen in a row the opening meet on bars

Yeah some of those lineups don’t make sense. Erenas will definitely be in the bars lineup over Brock right now. And Dunne will definitely be in the beam lineup over Dean or Arenas. And if they do choose to rest Dunne on floor, is rather see Campbell or Ballard in the lineup over Dean.

With Brock in the bars lineup over Dean, I imagine Dean is still having an issue with an injury. The reason she didn't do bars in 101. Dean is the last person I thought we would see in the floor lineup though with all the options we have. (Please give me Sierra!) I would have never imagined we would see Arenas get that last open spot on beam over Olivia. Lots of questions, but we are just fans...

I don’t know how accurate those are. The lineups they posted for other teams as well were questionable as well. We will find out in a few hours.
