Who impressed you the most on Vault and Bars this early in training?

So who will be coming out of bars lineup, alyona or Bridget?
I assume you are saying elena, Livvy, and Haleigh are the frosh. Yes Maddie looks a lot better and even if we don't have to use her this year, it's nice to have the depth cuz you never know!

do you have the inside scoop on whether the offers have been made and the girls are waiting or whether LSU is still waiting to make offers on those 2022? class of 1 seems pretty small compared to other top programs..

Kai is the odd one out IMO considering she is coming off of surgery and is working her way back. Not that she can't still make a lineup. Alyona should have a much cleaner routine this season since Jay changed her routine up. Now this is my lineup (not exact order) at this time.

1. Kiya Johnson
2. Haleigh Bryant
3. Olivia Dunne
4. Alyona Schennikova
5. Elena Arenas
6. Sami Durante

Obviously Dean and Kai are in the mix as well. Olivia Gunter, Kamryn Ryan, Caitlin Smith and Chase Brock are training here as well.

It's looking like there's gonna be a ton of depth on floor this year. What do you think the ideal floor lineup is with everyone healthy (obviously not a given but still)?

If we stay in tact mostly, it will be night and day from last season. Kai is actually starting to do some tumbling again right now. Good news is all our freshmen do floor, we got Alyona going on floor, Edwards is back, we have a lot to work with.

Our best lineup? Thats a tough one.... if they hit....

I have a core group which consists to Arenas, Dunne, Desiderio, Campbell, Bryant, Kai and Kiya. I think Edwards could contribute as well but I think some of the other ones listed have high scoring potentials but I'm not counting Edwards out yet. She will need to clean up salto pass, which she had issues with last season.

I love Olivia Gunter but just don't think she breaks the lineup with this depth. I think she will probably get some opportunities especially to give kids a break at some point. Just don't think thats a routine we will be putting out there when post season hits.

Alyona is interesting though because she is very capable as well when she hits but I need to see the consistency. Floor isn't her strongest event but doing water down NCAA routine is very different from her elite routines.

Some notes on our true freshmen tumbling, Elena does a front double full, Olivia Dunne is doing a double layout, Bryant obviously with giant double front. Sierra Ballard has trained a double layout and Brock does a full in.

Are they still determined to give everyone that terrible last pass to get bonus even though almost no one did very well at it, or is that out now that DD is gone?

Side note, I had kinda forgotten about Kai being on bars. Oops!

Edit: if they don’t turn Reagan’s floor routine into something ala Rachel gowey, then I say take her out and don’t risk hurting her ankles any more than necessary. She has such beautiful lines and leaps that she only needs 2 passes.

The amount of depth this team has across all 4 events this season is INSANE!!!!! If they can all stay healthy at the same time, I can honestly see them as national champs by the end of April

I thought it was interesting during DD's final interview as the HC when she retired. She said she thought this years team was the most talented team they have ever assembled which is pretty big statement. The 2017 team with Edney, Ruby, Kelley, Priessman, Cannamela, Finnegan, Hambrick, Macadaeg, Gnat, Ewing and Zamardi was pretty ridiculous too.

I believe OU demonstrated you do not need a bunch of elite national team members to win a title. Recruiting talented, sound kids and constructing routines well can win at a high level. LSU has the bodies to put it together (talent wise). I personally think if we clean up the routine construction, we will have a shot to do it. I just felt our choice in skill selections over the years hurt us at times (particularly the leap series). I'm all for doing difficulty, we just need to be smart with how we do it.The dramatic changes they already made with Alyona's routine on bars makes me feel very hopeful already they are heading the right direction.

Tori Tatum, Aleah Finnegan and Kaytlyn Johnson will be signing their LOI's very soon too.

I think 2017 was the strongest LSU team ever and arguably its most consistent. Those 3 seniors were the best team leaders (Gnat is widely remembered as the heart and face of lsu gym) and that ridiculous sophomore class (finnegan, preissman, etc.) finally really dialed in on their shite. They absolutely could've won it all but there was no beating OU that night.

LSU needs to offer Harris first. That’s the problem. She hasn’t even gotten an offer and she seems to have been vocal about wanting to come to LSU.

Who is he holding out for? There must be a few prospects he feels good about to not offer her a scholarship. With that said, I still can't believe she hasn't been offered, if that is indeed true.

This is an aside - any word if they will be doing Gymnastics 101 this year? I mean, I generally assume no...but am cautiously hopeful that they would (at least as a kind of small dry run for meets this winter?)

I don’t see them doing the 101 but I could see them doing something that they maybe do in the gym and put on YouTube, even if just a bunch of clips. Would be even better to do in the PMAC since that is kind of the entire point, to get them out there in front of a crowd (can’t do this), under the lights with the hard landings. Would be a pain to move everything and set up but might serve the girls well down the line.

I always enjoy Spencer’s commentary. The guy knows his gymnastics.
