Is it confirmed that Edney is out? She looked fine on beam and floor, even with the OOB. I would think she’s good to go on some events, maybe even vault. That would be a huge help. I wish they could figure out a new first pass for her. Difficulty is not rewarded and the sooner the coaches catch on, the better.

Edney will likely be limited as LSU can not afford for her to severely aggravate that elbow as that could end our season before it even begins. We are already thin but they likely go conservative right now and try to let her elbow sprain heal as much as it can the next week or two. No reason to be aggressive and push through when we aren’t even at the midsession point. She could probably do vault and bars if she wanted but it’s a combination of her still having discomfort and LSU does not want that minor injury to progress into something worse. If we let her heal now, then she can finish the season strong. If we go to far, we run the risk of setting her and the team back late in the season potentially.

Saw a picture of ferrer dressed out in Friday's leotard - any chance she comes back?

Sorta of OT but have y’all noticed that Washington has taken a page out of OU’s book and is now landing in those ugly arse squats? Eww I need this to go away ASAP

This year is really weird. I started watching when Reagan Carville was a junior I think so needless to say I have just seen the girls in the glory days(I think) of our gymnastics. I don't like seeing the girls struggle and look so out of sorts. I'm used to seeing them woop arse! GEAUX TIGERS!!

Thought this was nice for Aleah! LINK

Aleah has been training a bunch of crazy bars combinations the last two years. GAGE has been known to throw a bunch of new upgrades during the olympic year last minute.
Hoping for a great season for Aleah. She has come a long way in such a short time.

Question of observation...
I rewatched the LSU v Florida meet and my heart broke watching Sarah Edwards get injured all over again. I know DD came over to see her, but is there some kind of rule preventing any teammates from coming to the side of an injured teammate? I know they don’t want to be in the way of the medical personnel, but surely one person to be a hand to hold and a comfort. The hardest part to watch was seeing her sitting there all by herself as they pulled and poked at her ankle. It looked like she was in a lot of pain and could have just used the presence of a friend/coach.
Anyone have any insight on the protocol for these kinds of things? I can’t imagine being her parents and watching her sitting there like that. :(

That combination was really well done. I love Deltchevs and you almost never see them. Same for the Comaneci which is never seen. I guess they aren't valued enough in the COP and are certainly not worth their risk in NCAA.

Soooooooooo, I'm curious about what that vault lineup will look like this week. I think Nibbs can stay, but either Rau or D'Antonio should be replaced. I don't think we can afford another crazy vault rotation... Any updates on Durante's vault? Is it looking usable? Also very important for Ruby not to go for the stick, so we don't take the risk of another fall. And as of beam, do you think Kai will be back this week?

We are very very limited on vault. We knew that going into this season we had very limited depth. I think it likely stays the same this week but Rau has to get it together here. None of her vaults have been on par with her JO vaults so far. Not sure they use Durante yet. Alyona is vaulting much more now but she isn’t likely to be available until the next few weeks. She isn’t doing firm surfaces at this time.
No clue about Kai on beam. I’ll be honest, Kai has higher upside on beam than dean but DD might stick to safe and experience. Kai needs to work on her confidence a little bit more but Dean hasn’t exactly been great this year on beam. Desiderio should be in the lineup again this week but without all the wraps on. We may exhibition Alyona on beam this weekend. The plan is to get her in this lineup eventually.

Since Rau has been in the rotation since the first meet and has not yet had a strong vault it would be good to give Rebecca D'antonio another opportunity to gain experience and see how she progresses after getting that first vault on the books. With the injuries they are dealing with this season she may be in the lineup in post season and the better she will be if she has a few meets before then.

I think the issue here - everyone who was in the rotation last week still has to be in the rotation this week because that is all we have healthy right now. So, regardless, Rau and D'Antonio probably both still have to vault unless one of Edwards or Edney is back.

No way Edwards is back...not for 2 more weeks at minimum

I'm fine with Nibbs, she looked fine. Not a top 6 option, but a perfectly good backup. I actually wish they would go with just a full for Rau if she can't get the 1.5 together. A decent full could get maybe a 9.8 with a solid landing, while her 1.5s have been all over the place. Kai's full has been doing well so far.
Also I prefer Kai over Dean on beam. They both have form errors, but Kai probably slightly fewer. I thought she did very well on beam so far.
Looking forward to seeing Alyona on more events. Perhaps that will also take some pressure off her. It must be hard to only do one event.

There was no intrasquad this week?
Posted on 2/7/20 at 9:20 pm to Tigerbait357
Has anyone watched the meets tonight? Kentucky got a 197+ at Auburn. Florida had another HIGH 197 with Trinity getting a 10 on beam. Denver's Maddie Karr got a 10 on vault at the Florida meet. It looks like there will be a lot of well scoring teams going forward. I hope the Tigers have a good meet tomorrow.
