Also, it was a good idea to remove the punch front from Kiya’s beam routine. It flowed much better tonight.

Even when fully healthy, keep that routine! Kiya has enough on her plate doing AA as a freshmen with a lot of difficulty across the other events.

I know its still early but I cannot recall a freshmen being this impressive at LSU. Finnegan was great but what Kiya is doing as an all arounder across 4 events as a freshmen is unbelievable.

Also, I didn’t realize that Kiya had 0.9 of bonus in her floor routine. I think it may be time to let her do a two pass floor routine until she’s healthier. We can’t afford any more injuries.

, I think we need to heavily consider changing her 2nd pass. Thats the only blemish in that routine getting in the way. Hopefully the injury isn't too bad. Something looked funky when she was running into her 2nd pass.

I personally think Campbell should do her double back in the middle. She doesn't have a lot of power in general. Don't like her doing a double pike at the end of her routine.

Really happy with the score tonight. Maybe this will get the girls rolling and Hope Sarah will be ok but even if it isn't her achilleas lower leg muscle pulls in my experience take forever to heal. Will miss her. Love that smile!

I was thinking Sarah’s might be a high ankle sprain but I don’t know. I wish DD would lessen the difficulty in some of these routines. It’s not rewarded anymore and only stands to hurt. Loved that the girls got it together and finished out strong. That away score is going to really help. Hated kathys commentary last night but all that said Florida looks the best team in the country right now especially if they can clean up their vault some more.

And why did they change it to a piked double back? She wasn't handling the tucked already.. I'm really not happy with the effort to make all routines extremely difficult.
No team really needs that. Gowey's 2 pass routine is scoring well, and so is Nichols (of course). More skills means more room for deductions. Just don't get it.

I just think some of these routines have horrible routine construction. We aren't very smart about it with certain kids. Just because they can do it doesn't mean they should do it.

I don't like Forcing double backs to end every routine for the sake of difficulty. It also takes away from the variety in routines down the lineup.

I like that they took out the front tuck in Kiya's routine. Considering she does AA every week with a heavy load and chronic achilles tenderness. Keep that same routine she did last night.

I pray they make some adjustments to Alyona's routine. They seem to be rolling with the same routine but personally I think she should do a Ricna+Pak combination then dismount either with double layout or pirouette into double tuck. Call it a day. Connecting the Maloney into the release into the pak is very tricky. If she catches the bars close it can disrupt the rest of that routine. I just think we should water down that routine.

Kathy literally expresses what does not meet her standard in the routines. She goes overboard with her critiquing IMO. She needs to lighten up and be a little more uplifting. She has ALWAYS admired Florida, Alabama and UCLA. She will praise them every time. She is high on 180 leaps and it looks like Florida has mastered that part of the beam and floor routines. I must say that is an area our girls could benefit from with more work. I was proud of the fight our team demonstrated last night. I hope they will continue to go after the 197's. It won't be long before the NQS kicks in so the highs and lows will be dropped each week.

I don’t mind critiques if it goes towards both teams but during beam and floor she picked out everything wrong with our girls and said almost nothing about the Florida girls. That’s aggravating!

Big day today as most all of our 2020 commits are in Atlanta today competing at Atlanta Centennial Classic. Will update later tonight.

This meet is one of the Nastia Liukin qualifiers

Bryant is already qualified, Elena Arenas and Olivia Dunne are the best shots to make it.

If Edwards isn’t in the floor line up next weekend, do we even have a sixth to go in the line up? Would Kai or Desiderio be recovered enough from their injuries?

Edwards showed an instagram clip of herself in a boot today :/

They’ll probably use Dean on floor. Kai and Desiderio are not ready on floor. Also, expect Nibbs to be used on vault.

If you rank teams by highest score, LSU is third after Florida and Oklahoma. Not sure how we'd measure up with UCLA, which has had beam issues of its own and is yet to compete this week, but this seems much more optimistic than how we looked this time last week.

Once we get Kai on floor, Edwards back on vault and floor, Desiderio on beam and floor, and Alyona on bars, we're going to be looking great.

I'm really impressed with how good Olivia Gunter is looking. Once she got those early nerves out she has been fab. Hopefully the same can happen for Maddie Rau. Reagan needs her 10 this year, I really think she can get it sooner rather than later.

Week 4's Rankings are out. LSU moved up to 6th. We need a great meet this coming weekend. Alabama is coming to BR.

They are ranked 7th just behind us. LINK

We need a home score in the 197s - which is doable with a hit meet (we would have had one two weeks ago if not for counting a fall beam)

Any word on Edwards?

This is for the board in general. Do they have the girls in dance classes in the of season? Girls that can dance(Sarah Finnagan) look so much more natural and relaxed when they can. You can leterally see some girls thinking what there going to do next. Its so robotic. It really takes away from the performance.

I think that is a good point, SLIPSHITE. I know that the top college gym teams that we compete against have professional dance instructors to help with the leaps, toe points, choreography and presentation of the beam and floor routines. It really shows in Florida, Oklahoma and UCLA's routines. The polish is obvious and the judges love it.The elite gymnasts come from programs that provide dance instruction so that is one reason why Finnegan's performances were so smooth and polished. She also was a natural which is a gift in performing.

One of the meets i was watching last week had someone that worked choreography at disney, broadway and lived in NY and still went to all the meets. That guy had to cost a ton but was doing wonders for there floor routines. Its killing me i cant remember. Think it was Fla.

Slipshite, I think this may be who you are thinking of that was involved with Disney. The article credits him with Disney choreography at the end of the information. LINK
